Guide Questions
1.What is Flaneur that the author, Jeanette WInterson, mentioned in the first paragraph? In what way is
viewing an artwork like a flaneur or a stroller in the street who walks with the crowd, adapts to life in big
cities and maintains a distance from all these?
From the essay “Art Objects”, Flaneur was mentioned in the first paragraph and it somehow means the
feeling of freely walking or strolling in an unknown direction. Viewing an artwork like a flaneur who
walks in the crowd, adapts to life in big cities and maintains a distance from all these, in a way that the
author let herself wander, observe and internalize what she have seen, making difference in her views in
life, finding extraordinary in the ordinary.

2.Most impressionists use relatively small, thin, yet visible brush strokes, with an emphasis on accurate
depiction of light and its changing qualities in ordinary subject matter. Using the abovementioned
paintings, Olympia and Women in Evening Dress. Explain how these works were depicted in such
manner and fashion.
I haven’t seen the picture of the painting yet but based on the brush strokes and style mentioned,
“Olympian and Women in the Evening Dress” might be a painting that creates illusion; something that
looks like it’s moving. The style used is more likely to give importance on the subject.

This picture isn’t near of where I live. I took photo of this because it reminds me of the places, I have
been just to earn money for a living. I, together with my companions, rode, walked and climb mountains
just to give access to the internet for those living in far flung places. The nature of my job is quite risky,
but I took the courage to faced it, knowing that I have a family to feed. Regardless of how high, wide,
and terrifying the mountains are, I will still climb because I know I have Above who will look upon me.
Wherever I go, the clouds will always remind me that God above will never leave me and will always be
with me.
