F. Twenty students took a 20 item quiz in Physics. The following were the test scores of
the students: 17, 16, 11, 15, 5, 8, 9, 10, 19, 3, 5, 12, 16, 18, 8, 9, 11, 12, 17, 6. Solve for
the following:

1. Q 1

2. D7

3. P35

4. Range

5. Variance

6. Standard Deviation
1.Q1

L=1(20)/4 = 5 This means that the 1st quartile is the average between the 5th and 6th value in the data.
Hence, Q1 = (8 + 8) /2 = 8. This means that 25% of the data falls below 8.
= (8+8) /2 = 8

2. D7
This means that the 14th value in the data is the 7th decile. Therefore, D7 = 15
L = 7 (20) / 10 = 14 which means that the 70% of the data falls below 15.

3. P35
This means that the 7th value in the set of data is the 35th percentile. Therefore,
L= 35 (20) /100=7 P35= 9. This means that 35% of the data falls below 9.

4. Range
Range = Highest Score – Lowest Score. → R = Hs – Ls
R= 19-3 = 16

5. Variance
