Pilot study and Reliability of Tool

PILOT STUDY

Pilot Study is a small scale version or trial run of the main study.

The researcher conducted the pilot study in Vatika, Jaipur, Rajasthan was august 2022
after obtaining the permission from respective authority.

The tool was administered to 10 parents of adolescence. Pre-test take on 1 st day and
STP was administered on 3rd day. On the eight day post-test was given with the same tool.
Tool and STP were found to be feasible and practicable. Data analysis was done using
descriptive and inferential statistics.

RELIABILITY OF THE TOOL

Reliability of the tool is the degree of consistency with which measures the attributes it
is suppose to measure. It refers to extend to which the same results are obtained on repeated
administration of the instrument.

In order to establish the reliability of the tool, split – half method was used. The tool
administrated to 10 subjects and the test was first divided into 2 equal half’s and correlation
of the half test was found by using Spearman correlation coefficient formula and the
significance of the correlation was tested by using probable error. The reliability of whole test
was estimated by Spearman-Brown Prophecy formula. The reliability of the structured
questionnaire was found to be 0.91 hence the tool was found highly reliable.
Calculation of reliability
Step-I

we use spilt half method for calculation of reliability. This study has 24 questionnaire and
sample size of pilot study is 10. So we spilt half the question according to odd and even
number.

Step-II
We provide each half of each sample and collect response of each half from each sample

Step-V
After the calculation of Rhalf we calculate Rfull through the Spearman-Brown Prophecy
formula

We get the reliability of toll is 0.91 that mean the tools is highly reliable.
