Executive Summary

Ilondanga Junior Sports Wear will sell track suits and sportswear to friends and parents

within the Nairobi region. Although we have a physical place located at Thika town we will

also explore various online marketing and sales tools like Whatsapp, Telegram, Facebook and

Twiter and supply accordingly. Ilondanga Junior Sports offers the most comprehensive

sportswear selection in Nairobi region and arguably on the internet order as well.

By offering the most complete sportswear selection as wel as having a knowledgeable

support staff, Ilondanga Juniour Sports is expected to quickly gain a considerable market

share. The growing sports culture in many schools around the region will also offer a suitable

ground for market outreach since the largest clientele will come from supplying track suits to

school children

Business Description

Ilondanga Junior Sports will deliver track suits, training jackets and other sportswear mainly

to school children and other sports enthusiasts around Thika and Nairobi region. The business

is structured as a sole proprietorship operating under entrepreneur who will be assisted by

two other trusted employees who will help in social media marketing and customer

deliveries. The main office of the business will be located at Thika town and is expected to

begin operations as soon as possible. Ilondanga Junior Sports recognizes the growing market

of sportswear clothing especially among school going children following the changing school

curriculum that emphasizes on co-curricular activities like sports and games. For this reason,

the business will conveniently provide tracksuits, training jackets, tracks(trousers) and other

sportswear at the client’s doorstep. The business expects to have a net profit of Ksh4, 000 per

one set of 20 tracks which can be moved in a weeks’ time. To achieve this, Ilondanga Junior

Sports plans to expand their customer base by increasing stock and using other creative

means to reach out to more customers.

Market Analysis

Currently, there are many groups of friends and parents with school going children who need

games kits and other sportswear. The most popular sizes in the market are the small and the

medium sizes which makes up majority of the school going children. The said sportswear is

normally lasts between one to two years due to wear and tear and the inevitable growing sizes

of school going children. As a consequence, the business expects recurring customers who

are more likely to buy again should they get satisfied with service delivery. Lately, the

current shop has been getting many orders at this rudimentary stage of the business, however,

low capital has limited our ability to supply accordingly. It is an indication that this is a

rewarding business endeavour especially when there are enough resources to facilitate the

project.

Competitive Analysis

The main competitor in the market is the Chania Depot and Kenya Uniforms company which

is a renowned uniforms distributor in the region. They have been the main supplier of school

uniforms for over a decade now thereby giving them a larger customer base and a refined

grasp on the market structure. Nonetheless, their large customer size is also a weakness since

they are often overwhelmed by excessive supply need from their customer base. Additionally,

the Depot and company has been criticized of supplying low quality sportswear and track

suits gear as they strive to supply high volumes while still maintaining a high profit margin.

A window of opportunity therefore arises with the supply of quality sportswear gear and

maintaining intimate relationships with our relatively small customer base. Consequently, we
3

are positioned to creating a loyal customer base who are more likely to come as return

customers and also recommend their friends and families.

Sales and Marketing Plan

One set of track will sell for Ksh 500 for the medium sized and Ksh 400 for the small sized.

The price has be set at the lowest possible profit margin for the sole reason of attracting more

customers with the attractive price range. The price is slightly lower than that of the main

competitors in the market but we expect to cover the returns on investments with higher unit

sales. To reach out to more customers, the business will not only rely on physical sales but

will diversify with online sales. There will be an employee in charge of internet and social

media marketing whose work is to popularize our products to the tech enthusiast population

in Nairobi region. We predict that over 60% of all sales will come from online sales through

WhatsApp groups, Telegram groups, Facebook and Twitter. Delivery costs will be added to

the cost of sales but at a subsidized price. Purchase of more than two sets of track suits will

be discounted while delivery will be charged for a single delivery.

Ownership and Management Plan

Since it is a sole proprietorship business, I will be the only manager due to revenue strains.

However, I will seek the help of two employees, one to assist in social media marketing

strategies while the other will deal with delivery and supply to remote customers. From time

to time, I will be required to step down from my management role and get involved with the

day to day running of the business like packaging, procurement, accounting, delivery and

supply until sometimes in the future when the business expands more.

Operating Plan

The objective is to significantly increase customer base thereby improving revenue sales.

Shrewd marketing strategies and efficient supply structures are required to achieve such

objectives. I will be personally get involved with the overall day to day activities of the

business to ensure we keep focus of the objectives. A competent marketer will be appointed

to popularise the business on social media platforms and reach a wider audience. Funds will

also be set aside for social media marketing. To ensure fast and effective delivery to online

customers, a self-motivated delivery guy will be hired. He must be time conscious and a

resident of the area with a keen knowledge of all the routes to avoid late delivery and

customer dissatisfaction. If the operating plan is followed to the letter, we have confidence in

meeting the business objectives.

Financial Plan

We are looking for investment from the club CEO or any other interested investor who is

willing to work with us. Starting with a collection of 20 pieces of tracks going at Ksh 6,500 I

will be looking to make a profit of Ksh, 4000. To make this profit I will have to sell each

track for a minimum of Ksh 400 for the small sized and Ksh 500 for the medium sized tracs.

My profit will be Ksh, 200 per piece bringing us to Ksh 4, 000 after selling all the 20 pieces.

With the sale of the starting set of 20 tracks I will have enough revenue to pay my rent and

settle other bills. Restocking should happen immediately after the selling of atmost 10 pieces.
