The document outlines requirements for installing a new data network that will provide LAN connections throughout various offices and rooms. It will include a new network switch with at least 48 ports that is compatible with the company's existing Cisco equipment. All network cabling and outlets will be installed according to international standards. The new data network will be interconnected with the company's existing LAN located in the old building communications center in order to integrate the new and existing networks. A notebook computer will also be provided for programming, troubleshooting and maintaining the new data network.

(See attached drawing, Data Network Typical Block Diagram)
A new and fully operational Data Network shall be supplied complete with all the hardware, software and other facilities required which shall provide Local Area Network (LAN) connections to the various offices, rooms and other relevant locations, after the system has been installed and commissioned. 1- Network Data Switch (DNS) New Data Network Switch (DNS) shall be supplied complete with all the required hardware and software. New DNS shall have at least forty-eight (48) data ports and with similar specification or fully compatible with COMPANY's existing LAN equipment. (Cisco systems) 2- Other Supply and Installation Requirements All offices, rooms and other locations requiring LAN access connections shall be installed with network facilities. All facilities (e.g. data cables, outlets, connectors, cords and other accessories) shall be in compliance with international recommendation (EIA/TIA Cat.6). The new DNS shall be installed inside the Communications room which shall be designated during the system design. Every office, room and other locations that require access to data network shall be installed with data outlets; one (1) each on the two (2) walls of each room. RJ-45 connector shall be used as data outlet to connect the computer to the network and shall be installed in a terminal box flush-mounted on the wall at 40-cm above the floor level. Data outlet shall be supplied with terminal box and cover plate as single assembly unit. Shielded/screened indoor-type 4-pair data cables (Cat.6) shall be used as data cables for terminating the data outlets to the data switch. All fiber optic and data cables when installed shall be routed through the Cable Duct Network provided under this project.
SPECIAL PROVISIONS AND SCOPE OFWORK h)
A personal computer (PC-Notebook of latest model) shall be provided, complete with the required software and accessories, for use in the programming, troubleshooting and maintenance of the new data network.
Network Interconnection and Interfacing Requirements
(See attached drwg,: Comms Systems Interfacing Typical Block Diagram) a. New data network shall be interconnected and interfaced with, which shall then works normally as integral part of, the COMPANY's existing fully operational LAN with its main network switch located at (OlD BUILDING COMM CENTER). b. CONTRACTOR shall be responsible for the interconnection, interfacing and full integration of the new Data Network and with all the hardware and software requirements to be delivered as part of the supply for this project. c. The existing F/O cable routed between the old building comm. center and the Exchange 'B' shall be reused, if possible and available, as interface link between the new and the existing Data Network of the COMPANY. d. During the site survey, CONTRACTOR shall determine the reusability of the existing F/O cable and the following shall be taken into consideration for the reuse of the cable under this project: 1. The extent of reusability of the existing F/O cable and the splicing and diversion points towards the new Building. 2. When reusable, the existing F/O cable shall be extended or shortened, when necessary, spliced at certain reusability point and pulled towards the new Building, passing through the Cable Duct Network. 3. New F/O cable to be used as extension shall be supplied as part of this project. 4. During cable laying and splicing, an extra length of 10 meters shall be looped at both ends of the extension cable. When necessary, new trench segments shall be excavated to lay the new F/O cable used as extension. 5. In the event that the existing F/O cable cannot be reused, not available nor sufficient to provide the required link for the system equipment, a new F/O cable of the same specification shall be provided and installed and pulled inside the existing trench with ducts between the Exchange 'B' and the new Building.
