1. Description

The myth of the true meaning of this mysterious track. The “Spoliarium” is
one of the songs of “Eraserheads” written by Ely Buendia during the 1980s. This
artwork is inspired by the Filipino painter named Juan Luna who painted where
the Spoliarium title of the song comes from did. That the painting portrays the
political domination regarded as grief, sorrow, misery, and despair during
Spanish colonizers. It was nice that they made this song to support their local
Filipino painter.

So as time passed by, the audience assumed that the Spoliarium song

would be also connected came out the issue during that time. Also some parts of

the lyrics are about the story of the rape incident. An actress was raped, and the

suspect behind it is obscured by politicians. But the writer of this song

complained that the story of this song was mundane.

2. Analysis

In their artwork, it is argumentative causing of stating the name of the

suspect in the lyrics. May there is a double meaning or mysterious story of the

character that is why many people are confused about the truth behind the song

Spoliarium. The plot twist of this song was nice because people were being

stricken about this to talk about in the media. But of course, there are still people

who get mad and wanted to erase it out especially the men who are guilty of the

rape incident to an actress. By the think of the beliefs of people, the artist hasn’t

powered to control that because they are in a different way of judgments of an

artwork. So meaning to say, that this was more on all about the pragmatic, it is

always based on the audience's beliefs.

3. Interpretation

In this case, it stuck in the way of thinking if it is just mundane or there is a

mysterious story of this song that the only author knows about it.

a) The artist is just trying to say that the song was all about their getting

pissed drunk at that time. People don’t need to think of it because it was

just literally all about the alcoholic drink called Goldschlȁger. It is

meaningless and nihilistic there’s nothing issue about that.

b) If I would be the one who going to ask where I would believe, I have also a

confusion comes to my mind that needed to be answered by the artist

before I’m going to believe that it is nothing on the issue before. Two

questions come to my mind one is I’m also assumed that Enteng and Joey

what they refer to because there’s have a lot of several names in the

world, why they are? And the second one is why the authors said that he

will take it secret to the grave? Is that the true meaning of the song is on

what people say because he is also finding the justice ignored and they

can’t do anything but just to write the song?

c) The symbolism of the artwork on how they get drunk on that night is the

lyrics stated “sabay abot ng baso” and “ang pagikot ng mundo” which is

convincingly what they mean. Also, it stated how the flow of drunk is

doing. There is also a man that doesn’t know what to do and what goes

on.

4. Evaluation

a) It causing me full of confusion and a lot of questions in my mind that

needed to be answerable if time such given me. But it was successful to

the point that I am one of the people give time to study this “Spoliarium”

with a lot of historical and mysterious story. It was nice to know about the

background of this song even though this is really old but still sentimental

and has never been forgotten a people like me. Even though I am not was

successful to know the truth but for me, the justice of the actress would be

given in this kind of art.

b) The artwork have their strength by doing the justice of the actress being

raped that is why it causes to suicide. I don’t admire them in the way that

they are afraid to bring out the true story behind the song. But I salute

them by doing this song that wouldn’t be forgotten about its beauties of

history.

c) There is a relevance to the community of people experiencing it because

until now if you have no power, you can’t find justice. That is the truth

about what is happening at that time in today’s generation this country is

full of trash policy and politics. And a lot of people are still blind to what is

happening in our society.
