GUIDANCE ON ONLINE FINAL TEST

Due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the final test will be conducted in the oral format, not the
written one as previously intended. The oral test is realized as follows:

1/ The examiner asks each student to present their understanding of a matter in a particular
literary work they have learned in the course and relate this understanding to their personal
experience or observation of someone else’s experience.
2/ The contents of the student’s answer must consist of their understanding of a matter in the
literary work under discussion and their personal experience or observation in relation to that
understanding.
3/ The literary work under discussion is put forward by the examiner, but the matter to be looked
at in that literary work is decided by the student. That is, different students may decide to
present their understandings of different matters in the same literary work.
4/ The student’s analysis of the matter they focus on in the given literary work must be logical and
convincing based on what is written by the author of the work.
5/ The student’s personal experience or observation of someone else’s experience that is narrated
must be relevant to the matter revealed in the given literary work that the student has analyzed.
6/ Each student has 2 minutes to prepare their answer and 8-13 minutes to complete the test.
7/ During a student’s speech, the examiner may interrupt it to converse with the student in order
to negotiate the meaning of what has been spoken if necessary.
8/ The performance of the student is evaluated on two aspects: language skills and development of
ideas.
9/ Holistic assessment applies to the grading of the student’s performance. While an analytical
mind should help the examiner in making the decision on a grade in marking a student’s answer,
the grade of the answer should not be the sum of the marks assigned to its individual aspects.
