What do you know about these famous landmarks?
I know several such as the Taj Mahal, the Great Wall of China, the pramids of Egypt
and my favorite the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
You will have 5 minutes to look for information about them:
Where are they?, What do they mean? and some specific features.
Taj Mahal - India
In 2007, millions of people voted for their favorite monuments, out of 21 shortlisted.
Thus, the list of the new seven wonders of the world was formed. The Taj Mahal, in
Agra, India, could not be missing. The 17th-century marble-clad mausoleum is
considered an architectural masterpiece, attracting up to eight million tourists annually.

The Great Wall of China


This impressive construction could not be absent either. More than 6000 kilometers
long, the Great Wall of China was conceived as a defensive wall. Contrary to the rumor
that has been circulating for a long time, it cannot be seen with the naked eye from
space.
Machu Picchu, Peru
In Machu Picchu, Peru, you can also see the other side of the fame of the wonders of the
world: the ruins of the Inca city are threatened by mass tourism. UNESCO has called
for stricter regulations to reduce the number of visitors.

Christ the Redeemer, Brazil


It is 30 meters high and weighs 1,145 tons. His outstretched arms span 28 meters. In Rio
de Janeiro, the monumental Christ the Redeemer stands on the Corcovado hill. The
statue was completed in 1931.

What is a famous landmark in your country?
The famous landmark of my country is the Galapagos Islands
Where is it?
The Galapagos Islands are located in the Western Pacific, 1 000 km west of the
Ecuadorian coast.
How does it look like?
The Galapagos Islands have an extraordinary flora and fauna that has inspired many
with a large number of unique species. Converted into a scientific research park, this
enchanted place offers ecological tourism in Ecuador
What is special about it?
The islands are the habitat of species such as sea turtles, iguanas, lizards, cormorants,
albatrosses, sea lions and penguins. this makes it very special.
Does it symbolize something?
The Galapagos Islands are known around the world as the "Enchanted Islands", famous
for their numerous endemic species and for the studies of Charles Darwin that led him
to establish his Theory of Evolution by natural selection.
Does it attract many tourists to come?
With more than 150,000 tourists visiting the Galapagos each year, the Islands are an
attractive destination for people who want to see one of the world's treasures.
