important to provide related literature in your research work?” Refer to the
rubric provided below as your guide in constructing the paragraph. Your
paragraph will be graded using this rubric.

Our review of the literatures says this appears to be bigger than in the past.
The literature can be understood as the collection of academic and peer-
reviewed writing on any given subject. Therefore a Review of literature is an
articulate summary of the most important and salient aspect of that literature
for your field and the most pertinent or relevant to your research project.
However, a related literature can be a frustrating process because it involves
many hours reading and researching. It is important to understand why we
include this process in our research.

The related literature is important because it provides a historical

background of our research. This is critical for two reasons. First you need to
know what has been written about your research so that you can present
something new to the field in which you are studying. When you come to
write about your research significance, you can be confident that you are
contributing, even in a small way to the existing understanding of the field.
The Review of literature demonstrates to your reader or panelist that you
know how to read theoretical concepts and translate them into your own
words so it means you understand your field.

The Review of literature gives an overview of the current context in which

your research is situated by referring to contemporary debated issues and
questions in the fields. This is important because your field of research is
constantly updated and expanded upon through new and exciting work.
Moreover, the ideas about your field might have different meaning in a new
context. The related literature includes discussion of relevant theories and
concepts which underpin your research.
