A. Define the following terms. 5 points each

1. Pagkamaka-Diyos

- the faith in God, the respect to God even though we don’t hear or see him. Following his
commandments to be righteous human and would nit be offended or hurt to ourselves and to everyone.

2. Pagkamaka-Tao

- the respect of each human person’s opinions and perspective. Not only being kind to surroundings but
also be considerate in everyone else regardless of what they are, where they come from and who they
become. It possess the core value of the person contributions towards the solidarity.

3. Pagkamaka-Bayan

- Patriotism refers to the love we have for our country. This can be seen through a person’s nationalism
or patriotism. We always put the good of the people before self -interest. It must be possessed by every
citizen for the development of the country. As a student, practicing patriotism is good.

B. Write your explanation on the lines provided. 5 points each

1. Discuss the philosophy of human values in the Filipino context.

Human values philosophy is easy to see in a Filipino context because most of them are still practiced by
our people today, although to a smaller extent. When a calamity strikes any part of the country, there is
an outpouring of sympathy from many people, as evidenced by the amount of money donated. Many
foreigners who have visited the Philippines have noticed that the Filipinos are a very open minded
people. We are a free people, as are the people in most of the countries.

The people here have unmatched freedom, and while it has reduced over time and as a result of
numerous government incidents into private affairs, we still have a significant portion of it. Even if we
don't notice it, human values are very much alive in the Philippines. Perhaps this explains why foreigners
can't help but smile, even in the face of adversity.

2. Discuss nationalism and patriotism in the Filipino context.

Nationalism is a devotion of love for one's country that originated in the Philippines, the country's
stronghold. Nationalism involves emphasizing unity through a shared cultural background, including
language, as well as a sense of loyalty and devotion to one's homeland. Patriotism is a love for one's

country based solely on the fact that one is a citizen of that country. Filipinos, for example, respect the
flag and value the uniqueness of the language 'tagalog.' Filipinos also vote for the best candidate to
serve their country are also part of being patriotism.
