ACTIVITY NUMBER 2

1. What can you tell about the picture? Did it spark the "Filipino" within you? Do these pictures
make you love your country more? Explain
When I look at these pictures, it brought goosebumps to my arms. These are the people, our
fellow countrymen who sacrificed and put a lot of effort just to bring glory to our country and to
make the Filipino people be proud of them. And yes, it sparked the Filipino blood within me because
not all people have been given a chance to represent a specific country to compete, and not all
battlers can secure a victory to defend a country. So, it's a pleasure to these people in the pictures
that make Filipinos proud thinking of how great, clever, determined, and strong we are. And that
made me love my country more because we can prove that not only we can accept defeat but not be
easily defeated by our enemies due to our hidden strength that will make them realize that they
should never underestimate the pride of the Filipinos. An athlete once said that “I am proud to be a
Filipino” and that quote lives within me.
2. What makes us Filipinos? Are there necessary traits, practices, or beliefs that make us unique
from other nationalities?
Firstly, Filipinos are known to be hospitable. Despite where the guests came from, their nationality,
what country they originated from, and the reason to visit, guests can be counted on to give their
guests a very warm welcome. Secondly, Filipinos are also known to be family oriented. For most
Filipinos, family is the cornerstone of social life. We genuinely care about our parents and other
family members, and we treasure our time together. We cannot dispute the fact that the Philippine
culture values family attachment. Thirdly, Filipinos are also known to be respectful, especially to the
elders. Mano or pagmamano is a Filipino gesture that honors and also a sign of respect as we bow
down our heads to the elder people as we hold their hand that touches our forehead. Lastly, there
are a few superstitious beliefs that are well known among the locals in the Philippines. They are
generally exposed to these notions at a very young age. If locals don't keep hold to obey them, a
misfortune is thought to afflict them. To sum it up, these are things that make Filipinos unique from
other nationalities.
3. What do you think comprises a nation?
A nation is made up of a collection of people who have a similar history, culture, language, and other
traditional customs. People in this kind of nation have a shared identity and perceive themselves as
being a part of the same group. Without its population, it would not be referred to as a nation
because a nation is made up of its people.
