FLORA AND FAUNA OF MIMAROPA

Mimaropa is rich in flora and fauna and has a high biodiversity. That is why Palawan is known as the last
frontier of the Philippines. Also in Marinduque there is a few sanctuaries such as the tres ryes marin
sanctuary, the butterfly farm and the marinduque wildlife sanctuary and in Marinduque there are many
living species specially bird. Example of these are
-Grey-billed Cuckoo (Cacomantis merulinus)
-Rusty-breasted Cuckoo(Cacomantis sepulcralis)
-Himalayan Cuckoo (Cuculus saturatus)
-Oriental Cuckoo (Cuculus optatus)
-Asian Drongo-Cuckoo(Surniculus lugubris)
-Red-crested Malkoha(Phaenicophaeus superciliosus)
Natural growth samplings found at Mount Malindig, the island’s highest peak at 1,157 meters. The first
952 meter ascent has been almost cleared of endemic plants and trees by original settlers and now
planted to vegetable plants and coconuts. Wild boar, monkeys and deer have been driven away in what
was reputed to be the late President Manuel L. Quezon’s favorite hunting ground. Various species of
ferns that spread by vegetative growth thrive in abandon. Certain fern types are said to tolerate high
levels of arsenic and believed to be doing a natural good in the environment by sucking out toxicity out
of some contaminated soils and waters.

FAMOUS ATTRACTIONS AND ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO IN EACH PROVINCES

OCCIDENTAL MINDORO- one of the well know tourist spot in occidental mindoro is Apo reef, which
located in Apo Island. It is the second largest reefs in the world. And the activity you can do there are
diving, swim with turtle, trekking and visit the light house.
ORIENTAL MINDORO- Then the best tourist spot that you can visit in oriental mindoro is Puerto Galera.
Puerto Galera is a soothing vision of shimmering seas surrounded by lush mountains. The activities you
can do there are swimming, jetskis, waterskilling.

MARINDUQUE- This province is a heart shape island and known as smallest province in southern tagalog
region. And one of the famous tourist spot there is Paadjao Falls it is a 15-foot cascading falls so it is
obvious that the activities you can do there are cliff diving and trekking. Then if you want to go to church
you can visit Boac Cathedral it is located in boac town proper.

ROMBLON- Romblon is a island province of the Philippines. And one of the famous tourist attraction
there is Mt. Guiting Guiting it is located in Sibuyan Island. It is obvious that the activities you can do
there is mountain climbing, sightseeing swimming and diving.

PALAWAN- Palawan is a champion of nature preservation. The famous tourist spot there is Coron Reefs,
it is surrounded with craggy limestone reefs and 7 lakes. And the famous Tabon cave complex it is the
world largest underground river system. The activities you can try there are swim in hidden lagoon at
twin lagoon, snorkel on a WWII Japanese shipwreck Island, hop on an expedition trip.

ACCESS IN EACH PROVINCES IN MIMAROPA

MANILA TO OCC AND ORI MINDORO
There is no direct connection from Manila to Mindoro. However, you can take the train to Cubao LRT,
take the walk to Manila Cubao Jam Liner, take the bus to Batangas Pier, take the walk to Batangas, take
the car ferry to Calapan, then take the taxi to Victoria. Alternatively, you can take a vehicle from Manila
to Victoria via Cubao LRT, Manila Cubao Jam Liner, Batangas Pier, 

MANILA TO MARINDUQUE
1.From Cubao, ride a bus to Marinduque. Jac Liner has daily direct bus trips to Marinduque from their
Cubao Terminal. The bus departs at 4:00 PM from Cubao to Marinduque, but you need to board the bus
by 3:00 PM. Meanwhile, the bus from Marinduque to Cubao leaves at 2:00 PM daily from Sta.Cruz,
Marinduque. You can proceed to the bus stop of each town, like the bus stop in Boac where they will
pick up passengers. Reservation in advance is required.
2.Alight at Boac or wherever town your hotel/resort is located. The bus onboard the ferry will arrive in
Balanacan Port in Mogpog. It will then leave and continue to drop passengers at bus stops in other
towns like Boac, Gasan, and Sta.Cruz.
Fare: ₱880 – $17 (covers bus fare, ferry fare + terminal fee)
Travel time: About 8 hours

MANILA TO ROMBLON
Traveling from Manila to Romblon by plane is not so common as there’s no direct flight available. If you
prefer to travel by plane, you will land at Tablas. There are flights available from Manila to Tablas and
Cebgo operates flight to this route. However, after landing, you still need to ride a taxi and a car ferry. 
The usual flight ticket costs around PHP 2,500 – PHP 6,500.
Travel time
Manila to Tablas by plane – 1 hour 20 minutes (PHP 2,500 – PHP 6,500)
Tablas Airport to San Agustin by Taxi – 30 minutes (PHP 500 – PHP 700)
San Agustin to Romblon by Ferry – 1 hour (Around PHP 350 )

Ferries in San Agustin going to Romblon departs daily (10 AM and 3 PM). Montenegro Shipping
Lines operate trips to this route. 

MANILA TO PALAWAN
The Manila Palawan ferry route connects Luzon Islands with Luzon Islands. Currently there is just the 1
ferry company operating this ferry service, 2GO Travel. The crossing operates up to 1 times each week
with sailing durations from around 11 hours.
Manila Palawan sailing durations and frequency may vary from season to season so we’d advise doing a
live check to get the most up to date information.
