Meeting 1

Lesson Objective: To talk about family members.

Opening activities (5 minutes):


1. Teacher greets students and writes what he says on the board.
2. Teacher takes students’ attendance and greets some students.

Core activities (25 minutes):


1. Teacher asks students to look at the book page 2.
2. Teacher plays the conversation about family album from the recording.
3. Teacher asks students to look at the picture and read the text on their
book page 3 about family tree.
4. Teacher asks students to define what “family” means.
5. Teacher asks half of the students to ask “Who are the people in your
family?” and the other half to answer it.
6. Teacher asks the students to mention their answers and writes down
the answers on the board. Teacher asks the students to repeat after
him.
7. Teacher asks the students to work in groups. Teacher prepares a set of
questions for a quiz about family. For example:
- Your mother’s sister is your …
- Dave is your uncle. Dave’s daughter is your …
If the answer is right, the group will get 10 points, but if the answer is
wrong they will not get any point.

Closing activities (5 minutes.):


8. Teacher asks students to do complete the family tree and answer the
riddles on their book page 6.
9. Teacher wraps up the lesson and closes the class.
Meeting 2

Lesson Objective: To understand about comparative and superlative


adjectives.

Opening activities (5 minutes):


1. Teacher greets students.
2. Teacher reviews the previous lesson by asking the question “Your
mother’s sister is your … ?” to one student. Teacher repeats the
question several times with variations.

Core activities (25 minutes):


3. Teacher compares two things. Teacher asks a student to give an
example of comparative adjective in a sentence.
4. Teacher writes down a list of adjectives to turn into comparative
adjectives. Teacher makes sure that the students realize that:
- Some adjectives such as ‘big’ or ‘pretty’ are turned into
comparative adjectives by adding an “-er”
- Some adjectives such as ‘expensive’ are turned into comparative
adjectives by adding the word “more”
5. Teacher compares more than two things. Teacher asks a student to
give an example of superlative adjective in sentence.
6. Teacher writes down a list of adjectives to turn into superlative
adjectives. Teacher makes sure that the students realize that:
- Some adjectives such as ‘big’ or ‘pretty’ are turned into
comparative adjectives by adding an “-est”
- Some adjectives such as ‘expensive’ are turned into comparative
adjectives by adding the word “most”
7. Teacher asks students to see the pictures of family members and do
activity 5page 4.
8. Teacher asks the students to work in group. Teacher asks the
students to stand up. Teacher gives instruction ‘Line up
according to height’ or ‘Line up according to shoe number’.
Teacher repeats the instruction several times with variations.
The fastest group is the winner.

Closing activity (5 minutes):


9. Teacher divides the class into several groups and asks them to line up
their friends by using some words of comparison.
10. Teacher wraps up the lesson and closes the class.
Meeting 3
Lesson Objective: To talk about occupations.

Opening activities (5 minutes):


1. Teacher greets students.
2. Teacher shows pictures of people and asks students to mention their
occupations.

Core activities (25 minutes):


3. Teacher asks the students to mention some occupations and the job
desks.
4. Teacher writes down several occupations on the board. Teacher asks
half of the students to ask “What do you do?” and the other half to
answer with the occupations that the teacher chooses. Teacher repeats
the activity several times with variations.
5. Teacher reads the lyrics on activity 7 page 5 and asks students to
repeat them.
6. Teacher sings the song and asks students to follow him.
7. Teacher divides the students into several groups.
8. Teacher describes occupations based on their responsibilities.
The groups who want to guess it have to come to the front and
write the name of the occupation on the board. The correct
answer will get 10 points.

Closing activity (5 minutes)


9. Teacher divides the class into several groups and asks them to sing
the song.
10. Teacher wraps up the lessons and closes the class.
Meeting 4

Lesson Objective: To understand very simple descriptive reading texts with


pictures.

Opening activities (5 minutes):


1. Teacher greets students.
2. Teacher shows some pictures of occupations and asks students to
guess them.
3. Teacher leads students to reading a story “The Two Brothers”

Core activities (25 minutes):


4. Teacher tells the story on page 7 and asks students to repeat it after
him.
5. Teacher asks some questions about the story to check comprehension.
“Look at the picture. Is it in the morning or afternoon?”
“What does the sheikh want to give to one of his son?”
“What does the wise old man say?”
Etc.
6. Teacher asks students to cut the story and make it into the little book
(Optional).
7. Teacher prepares 2 identical lists of review vocabulary words
related to the lesson.
8. Teacher divides the class into 2 teams. Teacher distributes each
list of words to both teams, so both teams have the same words.
When teacher calls a word, 2 representatives from each team
should stand up. They must run to the board and race to write a
sentence using the word. The winner is the one with a correct
and clearly written sentence.

Closing activities (5 minutes)


9. Teacher asks students to do the project (Optional).
10. Teacher wraps up the lesson and closes the class.
Meeting 5

Lesson Objective: To review the lessons

Opening activities (5 minutes):


1. Teacher greets students.
2. Teacher points a picture of a person and asks students to mention
their occupations.
3. Teacher asks students to do the activity on number 2 with their friends
in pairs.

Core activities (25 minutes):


4. Teacher explains how to do the activity on page 9 and asks students to
do it in pairs/groups.
5. Teacher asks students to do the activity on page 11.
6. Teacher asks the students to do “The Cousins game” activity on page
10.
7. Teacher has all the students stand up. Teacher asks a student to
answer a question about the previous lessons. If the student
answers correctly they can choose either their row or column to
sit down with them. If they answer incorrectly, nobody gets to
sit down. Continue the game until everyone sits down.

Closing activities (5 minutes)


8. Teacher asks students to draw their family tree.
9. Teacher wraps up the lesson and closes the class.
