Reflection #3
Marriage and Family

I’ve learned in Group 2 reporting that Marriage is one of the things that makes us, human beings,
unique from other types of living things in this World because we have a lot of emotions and love
to show to others. Marriage could mean a lifetime of happiness, but not always, and it is not that
simple. Since we live in a very large World and come from different cultures, origins, families, and
beliefs, different types of marriages have risen over the past centuries. We could see a lot of people
getting married for legal and financial purposes. The type of marriage that I believe in is the
traditional marriage, where a man and a women fall in love, get married and usually have babies. I
often think about other types of marriages like, same sex, polygamy, arranged, and common law
marriage.

Having a family is one very serious matter to consider. Regardless of what form family might
take for you, one thing is certain – family shapes us. Our family is our first introduction to the
world. It is also our first interaction with it. We learn the most basic and the most important
social skills from our family. In addition, we also fulfil our emotional needs through them.
Human beings are social animals, something that means that it is not possible for us to lead
entirely solitary lives. Modern life is tough and stressful. Handling it becomes a lot easier if you
have a support system behind you. That support system is your family.
