What are the Elements of Leadership?
Personal Perspective:

• Elements:
 Situation
 Goal
 Persons/Individuals

The situation refers to the issue that needs to be addressed or acted upon. It may be a problem that needs to be
fixed or a system that needs to be improved so that the resulting situation will become better. The goal refers to
the necessary action to be undertaken which may be the solution to the problem or the improvement of a
system. It is a course of action that addresses directly the situation at hand. The persons or individuals are the
people you seek to mobilize to undertake the necessary action to resolve the situation. Remember that
Leadership arises because there is a situation that needs to be addressed, a goal to accomplish and people to
lead. If the above mentioned elements are not present… then there is no need for Leadership.
