ShaliSulphide ™
TWO COMPONENT COAL TAR POLY SULPHIDE SYSTEM

Description
ShaliSulphide™ is a high performance, self-leveling chemical resistant elastomeric, two component joint sealant system with
special coal tar pitch as one of the ingredient. Due to its high polysulphide polymer content, it is resistant to many chemicals,
shrinkage, ageing, thermal stress and the effects of outdoor exposure. Coal tar pitch, being one of the ingredients, it is resistant to
root growth and anti-corrosive.

Technical Data
Conforms to the specification of MIL-TT-S-0022, Type-II, ASTM & ANSI
A116.1 & BS 5212 standards.

Benefits
ƒ Retain elasticity even as concrete moves; maintains flexibility over time.
ƒ Resists mild acids, alkalis & petroleum products
ƒ Resists effects of sunlight, rain, snow, ozone, aging, shrinkage and cyclic temperature changes, even after years of
service.
ƒ Contains no volatile solvents
ƒ Self-leveling for ease of application.
ƒ Coal tar product, hence anticorrosive and prevents root growth.

Joint Size
STP’s joint filler should be used for joints with more than ½” depth. Proper joint design practices and application techniques must
be followed for successful performance. In no case joint depth and width should be less than ¼”.
Considerations & Installation

1. Do not thin with solvents unless advised to do so by the manufacturer

2. Confirm product performance in specific chemical environment prior to use.
3. Prepare substrate according to “Surface Preparation” portion of this document.
4. Always use protective clothing, gloves & goggles consistent with OSHA regulations during use. Avoid eye and skin
contact. Do not ingest or inhale. Refer to Material Safety Data Sheet for detailed safety precautions.
5. For industrial / commercial use. Installation by trained personnel only.

Surface Preparation

Concrete: Apply only to clean, dry and sound concrete substrates that are free of all coatings, sealers, curing compounds, oils,
greases or any other contaminants.
New concrete should be cured before 30 days of application.
Dart, dust and foreign material should be cleaned before application
Surface profile should be CSP-3 to CSP-5 standard. Surface should be prepared mechanically to achieve these profiles

Installation Steps

1.
ShaliSulphide does not need primer for concrete joints. Joints with more than 1” width should be primed with
ShaliSulphide primer. Primer is recommended for joints subjected to hydrostatic pressure, submersed/ underwater.
2. All sloping joints should be taped.
3. A baker rod/bond breaker tape should be installed into the joints with 25% compression.
4. Component B should be added to Component A and mixed @ 250-300 rpm speed with a ½” drill and a mixing paddle
until the material is complete blended. Thorough mixing is necessary for effective performance of the compound. Mixing
time is 3-5 minutes.
5. The tapes should be removed before curing of the compound.
