REPORT PRESENTATION

■ Report presentation is the process of presenting a topic to an audience. It is


typically a demonstration lecture,or speech meant to inform, persuade, or bulid
good will.
■ a. A presentation is a means of communication that can be adapted to various
speaking situations such as talking a group, addressing a meeting or briefing a
team
■ b. A presentation can also be used as a broad term that encompasses other
speaking engagements susch as making a speech or getting a point accross in a
video conference.
■ c. To be effective, step-by-step preparation and the method and means of
presenting the information should be carefully considered.
■ d. A presentation requires you to get a message across to the listeners and will
often contain a persuasive element. It may, foe example, be a talk about positive
work organisation .
HERE ARE SOME STEPS TO MAKE
GOOD PRESENTATION.
■ A. Your Objective :
■ Start by being clear about your Goals.
■ B. Your Audience
■ Know your audience thoroughl. Check for anything that can affect how they are
likely to respon. Find out also what they may be expecting from your report.
■ C. Your road map
■ Think of this as your road map. It will help you stay focused on the key elements of
your report. The main idea, messages, the conclusions, and recommendations.
■ D. Structure your talk.When you are dealing with a lengthy report that later will
become an oral presentation, It helps to break the material into several distinct
parts based on the structure you have defined in your road map.
■ E. Create a strong opener.
■ It is essential that you begin any presentation with a strong opener. It is more
essential when your audience thinks it’s about to sit through what could be a
long, tedious exposition. You can quickly dispel any such notion with opener
that immediately graps everyone’s attention, So plan your opening
comments carefully, find something in the report a statement, a claim, a
conclusion, that’s likely to have a particular impact on this audience.
■ F. Keep those visuals lean and mean.
■ Chances your report contains lots of detailed data. Be on the alert to include
only the most essential data in your visuals. Use only at-a-glancevisual that
support your key message.
PARTICIPATING IN ORGANIZATION
Human beings are social creatures. We like to socialize, indeed,we need
to socialize in order to develop our potential, our status or even our
profession or business. One way to socialize with others is to participate
in organizations.

Joining certain club organization can supplement our education. For


example, If we want to improve our English, we can join any club using
English as the medium .If we want to keep abreast with our profession,
we can join any professional club such as Ikatan Dokter Indonesia. Are
you a member of a student organization at your campus ? Or do you
belong to an organization outside campus ?
A. TYPES OF ORGANIZATIONS

There are many types of organization that a person can


join, small and large, local and international, formal and
informal. An organization can be political,
environmental, scientific,business, or even social,
depending on its reason for existing. What organization
do you belong to ?
B. HOW TO PREPARE FOR PRESENTATION .

As an active member of organization you may have to represent the


organization in meetings by giving a presentation. Giving a presentation is
not very easy.

You may not have the experience of talking in front of an audience, perhaps
you are timid and shy, so that it is not easy for you to face an audience.
Presentation are extremely important in creating an image of your idea, its
acceptance depends on how effectively it is presented. If you deliver an
ineffective presentation, the chances of achieving your goals are limited. The
following tips may help you avoid this situation.
THE DELIVERY
YOUR APPEARANCE
1. Dress comfortable but professionally
2. Keep your straight, maintain good posture.
3. Use hand gestures only when stressing your point.
4. Be enthusiastic.
5. Pay attention to your body language.
6. Maintain eye contact with the audience.

YOUR VOICE
1. Don’t speak too fast.
2. Pronounce your words clearly
3. Project your voice so that the people in the back can hear you
4. Try not to use too many pauses or hesitations.
PREPARING FOR A PRESENTATION
Analysis.

3. Is the occation formal or informal ?
4. How much time do you have ?
5. What kind of response do you want ?
6. What do you hope to communicate to this group ?

THE PRESENTATION
1. Select your main ideas and develop them.
2. Arrange those ideas so that they build to a logical conclusion.
3. Support each idea with facts and explanations.
4. Plan your content to fit the time allowed.
5. Remember to summarize main ideas in the conclusion.
6. Prepare any props you need ( e.g. white board &markers, overhead projector )
