What should it contain?

-contribution, benefits and impact of technology in general and in your field

-the role of technology today and in the future
-as a group discuss how it has affect your lives

The term “Technology” is derived from the Greek word “Technologia” and “techne” means
“craft” and “logia” means the “study of something”. Technology is a very broad concept and is used to
refer to several branches of science and study. Some examples are information technology, medical
technology, biotechnology, etc.

Technology is a set of notions and knowledge used to achieve a precise objective, which leads to
the solution of a specific problem of the individual or the satisfaction of some of their needs. It is an
extremely broad concept that can cover a huge variety of aspects that can range from electronics to art.

Technology is one most unstable form which keeps on changing for the comfort of
mankind. Some technologies are designed exclusively for the destruction or environment, but most are
designed for economic or ergonomic effects. The great benefits technology bring to us is obviously
influents our lives anywhere, not only does the improvement of technology make our lives more
comfortable, but also benefits human beings in various fields, such as manufacture, medicine,
education, communication and so on.

The benefits of technology in our live are improved our communication to other people, easy
access to information and also improve our lifestyle. Technology helped in making the human
relationships closer. Social media has become a big platform to connect with friends who are living on
another side of the world. Health care system has also taken the full advantage of technology to
diagnose and treat patients better. Patients can now reach their doctor at any time of the day and
consult. Technological advances allow people to find a more efficient way of doing things. With the
tablets or computers in your home, you can get the information you want with a click. You can store
food in your home with the freshness of the first day thanks to the refrigerator. You spend a lot of time
just for these things. Another important issue is transportation. Thanks to the cars, we reach
everywhere we want very easily. In addition, this transport often carries vital values. It is with cars and
airplanes to bring any patient to the hospital immediately. Thanks to the advancement in technology,
don’t even need to walk, move around, or exert ourselves physically to great extents in order to get
things done. We have the world at our fingertips

Technology has a great help in our field. Most smartphones, tablets and other similar devices
already provide us with access to a number of apps to monitor our health. We can use technology to
monitor our patient status. Computers are presently being used for a wide range of functions such as
blood gas result reporting, billing, budgeting, purchasing, hemodynamic calculations, and respiratory
monitoring.

We think of technology is advantage to our society. I am afraid; it’s not completely. The Internet
has many unethical practices like hacking, spamming and phishing. Internet crime is on the rise. The
Internet, being an open platform lacks regulation. Children are spending all their time playing online and
less or almost no time playing on the ground. Youngsters are spending most of their time social
networking, missing on the joys of real social life. Computer technology and robotics are trying to
substitute for human intellect. With the fast advancing technology, we have started harnessing artificial
intelligence in many fields. An excessive use of machines in every field can result in the under-utilization
of human brains. Over time, we may even lose our intellectual abilities.

The impact of technology on society is deep. It is both positive and negative. Technology has
largely influenced every aspect of living. It has made life easy, but so easy that it may lose its charm
someday.

Telemedicine

The term “telemedicine” is often used interchangeably with “telehealth.” The most common form of
telehealth is an interactive audio and video telecommunications system that allows real-time, face-to-face
communication between a physician or other qualified practitioner located at one site and a patient who
is located at a different site.

Educating patients about their disease, teaching self-management skills, counseling patients on how to
recognize the symptoms and triggers of their disease in order to minimize acute exacerbations,
demonstrating proper inhaler techniques in order to improve medication adherence, and smoking
cessation counseling are some of the telehealth services that could be provided.

hey are using telehealth to assist patients with neuromuscular disease.

Respiratory therapists are increasingly turning to telemedicine to educate patients about their disease,
teach self-management skills, counsel patients on how to recognize the symptoms and triggers of their
illness in order to minimize acute exacerbations, demonstrate proper inhaler techniques to improve
medication adherence and provide smoking cessation counseling. School-based programs are also being
developed to provide asthma education to children.

The exposure of technology on human life has brought new health problems and disorders. If
you are looking at the impact of technology on human life, you can now safely say that technology has
dominated human life and became part of every task. How technology changed our lives in few years is
quite astonishing. The smartphone revolution weakened actual human relationships and replaced it with
fake courtesies.
Artificial intelligence is now replacing human jobs and few industries like transportation,
manufacturing, finance, shipping, customer service, and healthcare are in danger. Drones and robots are
now gathering information from satellites and are capable of doing farming too. It is wise to say that
technology improved our lives and technology affected our lives in some manner. There needs to be
some balance in managing the technology, and we have to try not be overshadowed by the impact of
technology.

What is a smart inhaler and how does it work?
‘Smart’ inhalers are inhalers with extra digital features – they link to an app on your phone or tablet to
help you and your doctor manage your asthma better.
At the moment there are lots of products in development, but you can’t get them from your GP just yet.
Some smart inhalers have sensors which can work out if you’re in a high pollution or high pollen area,
some can send you handy reminders, and some can tell if you need to check your inhaler technique.
They’re all designed to automatically track how often you’re using your inhaler, so you don’t need to
keep your own records.
Some trials have suggested that if you use a smart inhaler it can make it easier to stick to taking your
medicine. That means you get fewer symptoms.

How could using a smart inhaler help me?

Here are just some of the ways using a smart inhaler could make life a bit easier:
 Getting an alert on your smartphone when you hit a high pollen or high pollution area – helping
you decide whether to avoid it
 Helping you prove to your doctor or asthma nurse that you’ve been taking your inhaler
regularly, so they can better understand if your care needs changing
 Letting you know if you’ve used your inhaler correctly, helping to make sure you get more of the
medicine into your lungs, and reducing possible side effects.
