W04 Application Activity: Learning Plan

Name: Jelyn S. Oliverio

Overview
This week, much of your Life Skill Lesson was focused on Learning Strategies and the power they have to improve your
learning process. Your Application Activity this week will invite you to identify something about your learning that you
might have a fixed mindset about-- something you fear might get in the way of your success in reaching your educational
goals.

You will then be invited to select one of the six Learning Strategies (i.e. acting on the promptings of the Holy Ghost,
making your brain work hard, using distributed learning, creating clues, asking good questions, teaching to learn) or one
of the five principles of the Learning Model (i.e. exercise faith, teach by the spirit, lay hold on the word of God, take
action, and love, serve, and teach) that you learned about this week and use it to develop a Learning Plan designed to
help you achieve your educational goals.

Instructions
In your W02 Application Activity, you had the opportunity to answer this question: Why am I enrolled in
PathwayConnect? A natural follow-up to that question might be the following: What do I hope to achieve as a result of
my enrollment in PathwayConnect?

Part 1
To complete the first part of this Application Activity, please fill in the chart below by answering the questions at the top
of each column in the corresponding box below it.

What do you hope to achieve as a What is the biggest thing you need Which one of the six Learning

learned about this week would help
you overcome this challenge? Why
did you choose it?

I am looking forward to enhance I think the biggest thing I need to I would like to choose the first
my skills in writing and speaking overcome in order to achieve this learning principles that I’ve learned
English, that it could help me in my goal is fear. The fear of trying new from this week and that is Exercise

speaking in front of many people that the power we access by acting
using the language and the fear of faith is focus on the savior allows us
making mistakes that would let me to exceed our natural limits and learn

As stated in Doctrine and Covenants
6:36 and I quote, “Look unto me in
every thought; doubt not, fear not”.
This signifies that the essence of
acting by faith is really necessary for
me to overcome my fear and reach
my potentials on improving myself.
Part 2
To complete the second part of this activity, answer the reflection questions below (see next page):

1. How do you plan to apply the Learning Strategy or Learning Model principle you selected to your learning next
week? What specific steps do you intend to take? (3-4 sentences)

It’s very inspiring to share a thought that was being shared by Sister Parkin- Relief Society general
president that would somehow help me apply the learning model principle that I’ve chosen, she says “As
we exercise faith in the Lord, we learn to trust that His promise to us will be fulfilled. We will have
confidence that we will not be left alone, for the Lord will be our source of strength. His peace that
passeth understanding will fill our souls”. As I ponder on this beautiful thought, I was reminded of
something and that is to submit myself in the Lord in all my doings and trust His will. The very step that I
should take is to act in faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and believe that everything is possible in accordance
to His will. In this way, I could unleash the capabilities that I have and I can do whatever the Lord has
assign me to do.

2. How will you measure your success in that application (i.e. how will you know if you made progress toward
reaching your overall goal)? (1-2 sentences)

Through acknowledging my accomplishments and recognizing my weaknesses I could say then

that I make progress toward reaching my overall goal every day. Conquering one’s fear is a difficult task,
but as long as you’re doing your part and you seek to improve each day, you are really making great
changes and that brings you way to success. And I would like to stress a quote from Dale Carnegie that
would surely give a big impact to make progress in life.” Do the thing you fear to do and keep doing it,
that is the quickest and surest way ever yet discovered to conquer fear.
