CRITICAL THINKING ACTIVITY

1. Do a Film, Book / Show Review: Here is an analytical exercise that you can enjoy
through experiencing your favorite films, books, or television shows. Your goal is to think
critically about what you consume rather than simply viewing it passively. It is a great
collaborative activity that you can gain insights from others. After you have finished a
book or film or show, discuss the following questions.

1.1 What did I enjoy most?


The moral of the story and its plot twist.

1.2 What did I enjoy least?


The main characters that thought they couldn’t change their past.

1.3 Was there a message or moral to this story?


Discipline, Respect, Teamwork, Courage and Humility is the key to success, even
though the players attitude is worst but Coach Carter never give up to teach and guide
them to their success.

1.4 How can this be applied in daily life?


Determination to success and apply the five important values which motivates
me to reach my dreams.

1.5 Did the story engage my emotions? How did it leave me feeling?
Yes, even though our past is worst but it is not a hindrance to change the
future and achieve our goals in life. When Coach Carter changed the lives of his students
forever.

1.6 Were the characters relatable, and did their journeys make sense?
Yes, because it shows in the story that those students thought they
already know how to face the reality in which they got it wrong until Coach
Carter arrived and teach them to face the reality and guide them to their
success.

1.7 How did this compare to stories of a similar nature?


The story compare of a similar nature because of the challenges that we
face and how we deal it.

1.8 Do I feel the author achieved their goals?


Yes. The book and the film are somehow similar to each other. How the
director Ang Lee lives up the words of the author Yann Martel. How both person
gives the same message and purpose, that is the will to live.

2. Asking the “3Cs”: Achieving transformational learning begins the way all other learning
does – with a question. That means encouraging critical thinking, introspection, and
personal interest in the questions we ask our learners. Answer the following questions:

2.1 What are you CURIOUS about? (What subjects / topics are exciting to you? What do
you want to learn about it?)
To something I haven't achieved yet. For me, talking about goals and dream is
something I want to learn about.

2.2 What are you CONCERNED about? (Issues of the world, awareness of the fact that
many of these issues are quite serious)
The pandemic that is now happening and spreading chaos.

2.3 What do you want to CREATE in the world? (Abilities and desires, Responsibilities …
etc.)
I want everyone to know about the important value that we can apply in
this pandemic which can helps us to survive through out the phenomenon.

3. Feeling the Fear (and Doing it Anyway): Anticipatory thinking is an effective critical
thinking and emotional management exercise for coping with fear and anxiety. It’s all
about projecting the mind into the future and analyzing many possible outcomes instead
of just imagining the worst one. Think of something that you are afraid of doing – it
could be anything at all. Now, explore this internal line of questioning and jot down your
answers:

3.1 What’s the worst possible thing that could happen?
Separation and death

3.2 What is the best thing that could happen?


Complete family with good health, money , love and happiness

3.3 How does my preferred outcome look to me?


It would look very achievable

3.4 Do I have any control over the outcome? To what degree?


Yes! To the highest degree that I can attain

3.5 Can I ask anyone for help or advice?


Yes to my family and friends

3.6 If the worst happens, will I still be all right?


Yes for God will never abandon me in my weakest and deepest moments.

3.7 What is my plan for facing the worst?


I’ll prepare mentally, spiritually and physically, because no matter what I
do God will always with me and will never fail me.

3.8 After I face the situation and move past it, what are my next steps? How will I apply
what I’ve learned?
Applying the good things I learned and learning from the bad things I’ve
experience

4. Who is My Hero? - What is the definition of a hero? What does it mean to be truly
heroic in our time? Everybody needs a hero, and it’s time to write about yours. Think of
someone in your own life that you consider to be heroic, and who you feel embodies
your own ideals and values in action. As you explore this, jot down answers to the
questions below.

4.1 What is my definition of a “hero”?


Any person admired for qualities or achievements and regarded as an
ideal or model

4.2 Who is a true hero to me?


My Parents

4.3 Why do I see this person as heroic?


Because they goes above and beyond each day, displaying characteristics
of a hero. They can brighten up anyone's day simply with the beautiful smile that
are always on their face.

4.4 What have they done specifically that caused me to feel this way about them?
They are the reason why am I here in this world today.

4.5 How do they personify my own dreams and ideals to be a better and stronger
person?
They always put me first. They worked hard to make sure I had everything
I needed, even if that meant not buying something they like.

4.6 Am I a hero to anyone If so, why?


Maybe, because a hero is someone who does good and courageous
things for other people without being asked to do them.

4.7 Why do we need heroes and mentors in life?


To serve as an inspiration and motivation to be just like them

4.8 What do I want to be remembered for most of all?


I want them to remember me not just by my name but to what goods I
did

4.9 How will I achieve this in my life?


By staying who you are and by doing things that makes me and the
people around me happy

5. A Grand Solution – Our world will always have problems that need critically considered
and brilliantly designed solutions – so it’s a good thing you’re here! What do you think is
the biggest problem in the world today? Write it down and think about how you’d solve
it if you had everything you needed and anything was possible. Consider the questions
that follow as you dream without limits about a solution.

5.1 What is the most urgent problem in the world today?


The international pandemic COVID-19

5.2 What is the background of this problem? How did it originate? Has a solution been
attempted before? Why has the problem gotten worse?
It is believed to have zoonotic origins and has close genetic similarity to
bat coronaviruses, suggesting it emerged from a bat-borne virus.
5.3 What do I feel is the best solution for this problem?
Since there is still no vaccine, the best thing is just to avoid getting
infected from it by following the do’s and don’t coming from the government
and WHO.

5.4 Why do I feel my solution will work?


It depends to the person if they will follow it accurately then it will work if
they do not then it won’t.

5.5 What would it take to make my solution a reality?


It takes responsibility and respect

5.6 What can I do about the problem RIGHT NOW?


By following what does the WHO and government said for they are the
one who really knows about it
