Alhamdulillah, first of all I would like to thank God as finally I am able to finish my
assignment that have given by computer and information processing’s lecturer to us. This
task had been done with all my effort even though a little bit problem were happened during
do this assignment. But, I luckily all the problems can be settle down very quickly to make
sure the problems cannot happen continuously. I am proud because of I am able to adapt
properly and wisely.

Besides that, big thank I address to my lecturer Sir Mazlan bin Salleh because
without his guide my assignment cannot be done properly like this. He always gives us
supports and guide to us how to do the assignment accurately and properly to produce a
good outcome form the researched. The topic we have choose is about operating system
and mobile applications software (Video apps). I choose Mac OS X 11 Big Sur as my
operating system assignment and TikTok as my mobile application software (Video apps).

On the other hand, I want to thank to my parents because they always support my
studies even though all of us might face online distance learning and it quite challenges for
us. My parents always understand and patiently to me as they know it is very challenging to
study and learning during Covid-19. I just want to say thank you very much to my family.

Finally, to my beloved friends, I want to say thank you because always stick together

 INTRODUCTION OF OPERATING SYSTEM

Operating system (OS) is a software that consists of programs and data used to
manage the computer hardware resources and provide basic interface for execution of
various application software. There are a few basic tasks in operating system such as
recognizing input from the keyboard, sending output to screen, keeping track of files and
directories on the storage drives and controlling device such as printers. The operating
system is able to generate and provide the greater responsibilities and power especially in
large system. Different programs and users can run at the same time in computer by the
operating system. Security and ensuring that unauthorized users do not access the system
are also the responsibilities of operating system.

There are a few functions of operating system. The function of operating system is
process management. It is the process management helps operating system to create and
delete process. Other than that, memory management. It is the task of allocation and de –
allocation of the memory space to programs in the computer. Not only that, the functions of
operating system is file management. All files of activities such as organization, storage and
retrieval can be managed by file management. Networking is also function of operating
system. The processor can communicate with one another through the internet. Besides,
device management can keep all tracks of all devices in one time at computer. It also can
do the allocation and de – allocation of the devices.

The operating system is a set of special programs that can run to work properly in
our computer. Every computer must have an operating system to run other programs as it
can coordinates the use of the hardware among the various system programs and
application programs for various users. It is simply provide a convenient environment in
which other program can do useful work. For example, during Covid-19 all students and
parents should need to work from home because they have to study and work online by
using the computer or the other technologies to do their work properly. They need the
newest and modern technology of operating system to avoid the problems occurs when they
are doing their works from home.

There are a few examples of operating system. Firstly, windows such as GUI Based
and PC. Secondly, GNU/Linux for personal, workstations, File and print saver. Thirdly,
macOS or also knows as Macintosh in which used for apple’s personal computer or
workstations. Normally they are MacBook or iMac. Fourthly, for android it is Google’s
operating system for smartphones, tablets or smartwatches and it is friendly for users to

install and using it. Lastly, it is also from the apple’s company in which iOS is usually find
out in the Apple’s OS for iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch.

In conclusion, operating system is a software which acts as interface between the

computer and users. Nowadays, every computer has their own modern and high quality of
operating system that can run the programs in the computer smoothly without faces any
problems such as the operating system run down or stuck when we are running the program
or open some file to do our work or assignment. The modern and newest technology also
important for the operating system do the process in our computer.

These is the three logos of Mac OS X 11 Big Sur. At WWDC 2020, Big Sur was revealed
and marks the transition from Intel – x86 chips to Apple Silicon ARM – based chips.
Additionally, Big Sur is officially macOS version 11.0. It was announced by the apple
company in which
Mac OS X 11 Big Sur is the newest operating system for the Mac OS. We usually find the
Mac OS X 11 Big Sur in the desktop brand of Apple. Apple is the company who are provide
Mac OS X 11 Big Sur in the world. Big Sur making it the first time macOS has changed its
version number since Mac OS X “Cheetah” in 2001. Big Sur is available on the Mac App
Store. MacOS Big Sur always updated their new features and give latest information for us
to keep on date and all things about macOS 11.

For your information, macOS Big Sur is a continuation of Apple’s operating system. It has
powers to line up of desktop and mobile computers. Besides, it brings the macOS name and
it is known as a major version change in apple’s company in more than 15 years from the
10.x and now going to 11.x. The changes of macOS create a user computing environment
that is both and unparalleled in its simplicity. Furthermore, it brings many redesigns of iconic
Apple features and whole host of usability updates in the applications and a few surprises
from the Apple’s company.

 DESKTOP INTERFACE OF MAC OS X 11 BIG SUR

Apple announced that their long – rumored successor to its popular and stable of operating
system at this year’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC). The event usually held in
California, but WWDC 2020 was the first time it was held exclusively online by doing
conference online to made available to the public.

Nowadays, apple previewed macOS Big Sur in which it is the latest version of the world’s. It
also a most advanced desktop operating system. A beautiful redesign by macOS Big Sur is
entirely new yet instantly familiar. Apple as their company introduces macOS Big Sur with a
beautiful design compared to the others operating system.

Craig Federighi as Apple’s Senior vice president of Software Engineering said “macOS Big
Sur is a major update that advances in the apple company as the legendary combination of
the power of UNIX with the ease of use of the Mac and delivers our biggest update to design
in more than a decade”. In addition, with its modern and clean look, a many improvements
to key apps including Safari, Messages and Maps and new features. MacOS Big Sur will
make the customers to love the breakthrough experience.

 HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS TO INSTALL MAC OS X 11 BIG SUR

Apple’s macOS Big Sur (11) is the newest version of macOS in which the operating
system that powers the Mac and it is the favorite customers of the new version Mac. System
requirements for it has jumped over the years and decades. Catalina and Mojave came
after a bit of old support in the Mac. Mojave supported Apple Computers made from 2020
onwards but Catalina also Mac from Apple supported from year 2012 onward. That’s moved
to largely models for Big Sur in the Apple Company.

The macOS 11 Big Sur can run in few types of Mac models. These Mac models are
compatible with macOS Big Sur. Firstly, it is a MacBook edition from year 2015 or later.
Secondly, MacBook Air in which from edition 2013 or later. Thirdly, MacBook Pro a little
different as it produces late 2013 or later. Fourthly, Mac mini the new year start from year
2014 and later. Fifthly, iMac is also one of the Mac Models which are form 2014 or later.
The year same with Mac mini. Next, iMac Pro the new Mac Models produces from 2017 and
later. The year of produces iMac Pro a little bit new as the other Mac Models are produced
between year 2013, 2014 or 2015. Lastly, the types of Mac Models who are compatible with
macOS Big Sur is Mac Pro. These models are also the old models from the apple’s
company.

The general requirements in Mac from Apples are it is OS X 10.9 or later edition.
These requirements are the newest in this year as it is standard the users to use MacOS
from 10.0 until 11.0 version. The memory of Mac is same as the others memory of
computers such as Asus and Samsung because it is standard memory in which 4G of
memory of Mac from Apple.
The requirements for macOS for apple’s brand are compatibility jumped by year from the
Catalina upgrade, with MacBook Air and MacBook Pro models around the year 2012 -2013.
However, Apple can’t support its hardware forever but some new features are needed a
better and smoothly processors to work. The older machine or models are less powerful
when it is tends to be.

MacOS Big Sur have their own requirements. There are three things to remember
before we install the macOS. Firstly, we must check our device compatibility. Is it suitable
to install macOS in the computers. Secondly, to ensure we get enough storage for a Big Sur

installation we must clean up our Mac with CleanMyMac X. It is good if we want to give
more space to our computers before installing can be made. The last thing is to access to
CleanMyMac X we must use Setapp with a free 7 – day trial , Get Backup Pro and any more
like 180+ other Mac apps. This handy collection is very suitable for apple’s users to save
their own money and effort to comply with the macOS Big Sur requirements.

 FEATURES OF MAC OS X 11 BIG SUR

Apple brings a new look to the Mac’s interface, several changes of major improvements to
Safari, Messages, and Maps. In year 2020, a big new update has arrived to macOS. It is
the apple’s desktop operating system also known as Macs. For several years, Apple has
been naming its annual software release after California locales but this year they are
conducted the newest operating system for Apple’s in which Big Sur from apple’s company.
It is macOS 11. It is a fresh look, widgets and many more.

1. A Fresh Look

Everything looks different when you notice it after installed the macOS 11 Big Sur in your
computer. The interface looked like a little more iPad -esque because there are small
design tweaks and Big Sur isn’t a substantial visual overhaul. You will notice that around
at the corners, whether you’re looking at apps or the dock, are rounded. Squircle shape
instead of around is the apps icons for macOS Big Sur. There are various types of
border color such as grays are darker and many types of icons and menus have been

 compressed to take up less room. Overall, the entire operating system looks closer to a
mobile OS but this operating system quite good newest and more attractive interface.

2. A Control Center, Plus Widgets!

Control Center is a part of this redesign macOS 11 Big Sur. Now, the Control Center are
available on the iPhone or iPad on the Mac. It is the icon with two toggles in the Menu bar
on the top right. If you want to get quick access to settings for Bluetooth, Wi - Fi, Brightness,
Do Not Disturb, sound and current media playback we suggest that you just tap the Control
Center. The things cannot be move but we can add some extras to make the Control Center
more useful to the users. Click the Apple icon, the System Preferences > Dock and Menu
Bar and scroll down to Other Modules to add Accessibility Shortcuts. We can choose what
items we want to show in the Menu Bar including the battery percentage.

iOS 14 and iPadOS 14 are now available through the Notification Center because it is aren’t
new to macOS. We just tap the top – right corner (or the clock) and we will find the new
widget pane. If we want to move the Widgets around, we tap Edit and we can remove them
or add new one in various types of size. But in the iPhone, we can’t put widgets wherever
we want but it only stayed in the hidden area.

3. Safari Improvements

“Biggest update to Safari since its original launch in 2013” was changed due to Big Sur said
by Apple. 50 percent faster than Chrome according to Apple because the speedier is too
faster in macOS Big Sur. Nowadays, many people can watch 4K HDR content of YouTube
and Netflix. In one time the users have dozens of tabs run at the same time. Now we can
hover over a tab to see a preview of what in the desktop. In addition, it is much easier to find
the tab you are hunting for because Safari now shows the favicons in the tabs. Now we can
use Siri’s built – in translator to turn it into one of seven languages. The step is just go up to
the menus at the top of the screen and click View > Translate > Translate to English. It’s up
to you to change the language depends on you because it is compulsory.

Instead of just showing your favorite or frequently visited websites, we can also see Privacy
Report for how many trackers or scammers Safari has blocked. It is good because there are
many hackers that might disturbed us for the bad purposes. Safari also present Siri
Suggestions and access to your Reading List and change the background to something
more colorful and attractive interface.

Talking about Privacy Report, if we click the shield icon to the left of the URL will we see
many tracking strips on the web page Safari prevented from tracking you. Alert us if any
saved passwords are compromised in a data branch and restrict extensions so they are not
need to save and collect data as the Safari are control it.

4. New Maps

Apple has revamped the Maps app on the Mac in order to get use the maps very easily.
Many features that showed up in iOS 14’s version on Maps. So, There’s Look Around,
Apples’s answer to Google’s Street View; Guides, in case if we are looking for the best of tea
nearby; and cycling and navigation in which a handful of cities such as New York and Los
Angeles. We also can make our own guide if we are planning such as camping in the forest

with our friends maybe in 2022 by sending the directions from Mac to iPhone or saved any
Favorite locations are easier and convenient to access. It is keep updated maps from
Apple’s company.
5. Upgraded Messages

Apple’s company is providing the users with a robust product ecosystem. If we have an
iPhone, it can connect with Apple Watch because it can keep up with notifications and
tracking our fitness such as jogging and cycling. It is easier to share files between iPhone
and Apple Watch with the AirDrop feature. In addition we can continue our conversations
with our friends through the Messages app which are both desktop and mobile platform are
sync together. But, bare minimum functionality version of the Messages apps offered by
Apples only letting us send and receive messages.

From iOS 14, Big Sur upgraded Messages to bring in new features. The conversations can
be pinned to the top of threads that including group messages and add something message
effects like balloons. We can create the Memoji on the Mac app or just click the icon on the
left of the text field and click #images to send GIFs.

The most powerful is the Group messaging with the ability to respond to folks in a thread.
When we are feeling inundated with the notifications, we can set it to by receiving alerts only
the important or when someone says your name.

 ADVANTAGES OF MAC OS X 11 BIG SUR

There are several distinct selling factors and advantages that make macOS a superior
operating system to Microsoft's Windows and other Linux-based variants such as Google's
Chrome OS and Canonical Ltd's Ubuntu. It's worth noting that Apple's Unix-based operating
system has amassed a sizable market share thanks to solid business and marketing
initiatives that have resulted in a loyal customer base. Regardless, to each his own. There
are also a number of flaws or disadvantages that make macOS a poor substitute for
Windows.

1. A simplified user interface without sacrificing functionality

A simpler and more streamlined user interface is one of macOS's advantages over
Windows. It's worth noting that both operating systems include a user-friendly and functional
graphical user interface (GUI). MacOS, on the other hand, features a more simpler user
experience that is comparable to the iOS design found on the iPhone and iPad.

MacOS has a user interface that is similar to iOS. Installing and opening apps, for example,
is nearly identical on Mac desktops and iPhones or iPads. This is also true when it comes to
updating and removing programmes. The App Store is where most apps are found. They
are stored in a centralised app drawer called the Launchpad once they have been
downloaded and installed. Additional facts and components relevant to each app are stored
in a single folder named Application.

Because apps and programmes are installed in several folder paths and roots on Windows,
the user process is more cumbersome. Also, software upgrades are not centralised. Unlike
macOS and even Chrome OS, each software has its own update system.

Individuals who merely want to get their work done might choose a simpler user interface. It
is important to note, however, that each operating system has its own level of ease and
difficulty. By default, they are not intuitive. Nonetheless, when compared to Windows,
macOS is more straightforward and cleaner. It's as easy to use as an iOS device, but it's
also as powerful as Windows.

2. Improved and consistent hardware and operating system integration

Apple fans would claim that the seamless software-hardware integration makes their
MacBook laptops or iMac desktop computers more competitive than Windows-based PCs.
This claim has some validity.

Apple is both a software developer and a hardware designer, so keep that in mind. This
dual role allows the business to improve the macOS based on the hardware specs of a
specific Mac computer. As a result, the operating system and the collective hardware are
seamlessly integrated. Furthermore, this integration leads in effective and efficient computer
activities as a result of optimization.

While Microsoft creates and manufactures its own Windows-based computers, there are
many other Windows-based computer makers. Some of these companies simply assemble
the various hardware components obtained from various original equipment manufacturers
(OEMs). Compatibility and optimization concerns can arise with these haphazard assembly.

3. Malware and other security flaws or vulnerabilities are less prevalent.

Another significant advantage of macOS over Windows, and hence one of the reasons why
Mac computers are superior to Windows-based PCs, is its reduced susceptibility to security
issues and vulnerabilities. In comparison to Windows, macOS has fewer types of malware
like as viruses and worms.

Of fact, while some Apple devotees may claim that their MacBook laptops or iMac desktop
computers are absolutely malware - free, this is no longer the case. Because of the
increased popularity of Mac devices, hackers are focusing their efforts on developing
specialized forms of malware that would exploit macOS security flaws.

By advocating the usage of the App Store rather than downloading programmes from third-
party sources, Apple has managed to keep macOS and Mac computers safer than Windows
and Windows-based PCs. The apps in the App Store have undergone extensive testing to
verify that they are free of malware and suspicious programming.

It's also worth noting that Windows requires more rigorous maintenance than macOS, such
as scheduling and running anti-malware scans, updating drivers, and patching apps
individually. Furthermore, Windows is plagued by bloatware and clutter difficulties.

 DISADVANTAGES OF MAC OS X 11 BIG SUR

1. Mac PCs and MacBook laptops are extremely pricey.

One important drawback of macOS over Windows is the high cost of devices that run the
operating system. When compared to comparable Windows-based laptops, the MacBook
Pro and ordinary 12-inch MacBook are still relatively pricey products.

It's important to remember that macOS is a Mac-only operating system. Although there are
Hackintosh-based macOS derivatives. A Hackintosh is a non-Apple or non-Mac computer
that runs the macOS operating system. It should be noted that this is against the law.
Apple's operating system is still a proprietary product, and anyone caught using a
Hackintosh could face legal action for infringing intellectual property laws, particularly
copyright laws.

Despite this, the high cost of a Mac computer limits macOS's adoption and market share.
Keep in mind that Macs come with the macOS operating system. Consumers on a tight
budget should acquire a Windows-based computer or build their own utilising a licenced and
paid Windows operating system.

2. Hardware upgrade choices and flexibility are limited.

One of the disadvantages of macOS has been established: it is inextricably linked to a Mac
computer. This flaw also points to another flaw: limited hardware upgrade possibilities.
Some physical components of a MacBook or an iMac, for example, such as the CPU or
RAM, cannot be easily updated. At both the design and engineering levels, the majority of
these components are soldered and integrated.

A number of Windows-based PCs, including desktops and laptops, on the other hand, offer a
high level of upgradeability and customizability. It's worth noting that a user can purchase
and assemble appropriate hardware components to create his or her own Windows desktop
PC based on his or her preferences or requirements.

Extending the life of a computer requires upgrading and tweaking its hardware. Despite the
fact that a Mac computer has a long lifespan due to hardware integration and optimization, a

component breakdown might render the system useless, necessitating Apple tech help for
repair. Repairs without a warranty might be very costly.

3. A lack of advanced gaming skills and a lack of game titles

Despite its increasing popularity, macOS continues to be unappealing to gamers. In a
nutshell, there are more game titles for Windows. There are other games that are only
available on Windows. Another notable disadvantage of macOS is this. Simply, Apple's
operating system is not designed for gamers.

Before creating for macOS, software developers would frequently design games for
Windows. This is due to the fact that Windows is a well-known gaming operating system.
Furthermore, some of the most popular titles from small or independent developers are not
accessible for Mac machines. Developing for several platforms might be pricey.

Hardware is a problem as well. Due to limited RAM and the lack of dedicated graphics
processors, standard MacBook computers such as the base model of the MacBook Pro or
the 12-inch MacBook, as well as the base models of iMac, are not designed for gaming.
Keep in mind that most Windows PCs allow for extensive hardware customization and
upgrades. This means that a Windows-based computer with the latest and essential
hardware components may readily adapt to changing gaming requirements.

 COMMENTS AND REVIEW FROM OTHER USERS ABOUT MAC OS X 11 BIG SUR

Big Sur changed the Apple Mail app formatting so that the email addresses and field
headers are now light gray in color instead of black. When you print the email, the gray
text is not readable. If the email address is associated with a name is your Contacts app,
then the name shows in black. But for the tens of thousands of attorneys and pro se
litigants that must present emails as exhibits during court hearings, the email address
must be readable to authenticate the email or it is not admissible. In our digital world of
electronics communication, legal cases turn on emails. Apple engineers did not include a
switch/check box in the Mail Preferences to toggle this feature. What a huge blunder. I
have 12 years of emails that are still relevant to ongoing cases that I can't utilize now
thanks to Big Sur. Would appreciate if PC Magazine editors would investigate this further
and push Apple to correct this. Taking the high road.in the future, with each new release,
every change for each app must be listed prior to the user accepting to update an app or
OS. We're at a point in the life of the ecosystem where users must have more control
and say over what features they want changed and what features they don't want
changed.

I'm truly fed up with Apple releasing OS updates every year or so. As others have said,
this is surely mainly in the interests of iPhone users and 3rd Party software house? I run
a music studio and I have various 3rd party plug in suppliers that can't keep up. Big Sur
renders several thousand pouns of software useless - until they develop their patches. I
have put off upgrading to Big Sur until now but Apple come round the blind side and get
you another way. I now can't update Garage Band (or a number of other Apps) because
they won't update unless you have Big Sur installed. I'm still running El Capitain on
another Mac so I can run my old 32 Bit music software from companies long since gone.
have been a lover and loyal supporter of Apple for 20 years but I am now planning

 towards moving over to Windows the next time I need a new computer. As Alcoponis
says - "from which point of view is this a good upgrade?!"

I wish I wouldn't have updated to Big Sur. I am not a computer buff and have now
problems to restore features that I constantly used and valued. For example I can't use
touch ID

anymore which was so convenient. I realise many people have this particular problem. I
tried all the advice from the internet but nothing worked. Even my MAC shop couldn't
help me. I am therefore really not very happy. I hope very much that further updates will
fix this problem. My advice: If you have not yet downloaded Big Sur: DON'T DO IT!

AWFUL! Since downloading Big Sur, my iMAC runs as if it has tracking software
designed in the 1990's running in the background. I am UNABLE TO WORK because it
takes SO LONG for anything to open, download, or even to save. My 512Macintosh ran
faster than my current iMac runs after downloading Big Sur. It is the most horrible thing I
believe Apple has produced. I've been a MAC fan for decades, but this "update" has
totally crippled me.

Mobile software is often designed to run or execute on mobile devices such as smartphones,
tablets, laptops, or desktops, according to the article Mobile Application Software. It is used
to provide the user with the functions they require. The applications are created in the form
of a little icon with a limited set of functionality that may be created using any coding
language. Each application has its own set of features and supports multitasking. It enables
the user to select his favourite programmes based on his needs. The programmes are
developed in a stylish manner, with their own set of benefits and drawbacks, and are
surpassed by the user's intelligent accessibility.

1. Native Software Applications

The native programme gets full access to all visual and structural elements in storage. The
app is used to preserve marketing benefits and limits such as data interpretation and
ranking, but it is limited to its own needs. Because it is widely used across several

survey for native applications, monetization and trends have increased by 30%. It is possible
to access a device that has a native application a large number of APIs Native programmes
