FOOTNOTES
This is because rising ground water prevents the digging of any kind of effective foxhole in game terms.
ii
Sometimes sparse conditions or the nature of the combat did not allow for the construction of elaborate concrete or
massive log fortifications as in the ETO/PTO. Ad hoc reinforced positions in war are sometimes simply stacks and
stacks of sandbags reaching waist or shoulder high on other occasions they are nothing more than a shin deep hole in
the earth enhanced by several courses of sandbags. Sometimes overhead cover is provided by corrugated iron
sheets/plywood topped with mounds of earth or more sandbags. Nonetheless, in the context of otherwise open terrain
or in the absence of buildings, trenches or concrete fortifications such positions often constituted formidable defenses
and offer some psychological sense of safety.
iii
The British Paras 'traded-in' their Sterling SMGs as soon as possible after landing. They acquired captured assault
rifles from the Argentineans or obtained British assault rifles.
iv
A good portion of the officer corps of the Argentinean Army was drawn from the upper echelons of society. As a
result, these individuals often times had very little respect for the personnel they lead who were drawn from the lower
ranks of society in which ‘class’ still mattered.
