Dear Customer,

within our Quality Improvement Program, we are working to standardize and upgrade the material
selection for GGC, floating and trunnion ball valves construction. This means that we would like to provide,
in some cases, higher materials than required, just to provide products which are conforming to all main
applicable standard and specification, even if not required.

In this case, valve construction in A350 LF2 Class1 instead of A105N would be an improvement in all
respects. The technical reasons are detailed following:

Consideringthe carbon content restriction on carbon steel in accordance with API6D (0.23%) and •
. according to applicable ASTM, the chemical composition of A350 LF2 and A105N is the same
. Accordingtoapplicable ASTM, manufacture and Heat Treatment (Normalization) is the same •
. AccordingtoASME B16.34, rating group and temperature limitation is the same •
Accordingto applicable ASTM, the mechanical properties (tensile, yield, elongation, reduction of •
area) are the same, in addition A350 LF2 Class1 will receive an impact test (-46°C) which would
grant better performances in low temperature. Impact test at -46°C cover and exceeds also PED
. requirement
Indesign code ASME B16.34, A105 and A350 LF2 are inside the same Materials Group (1.1) and so •
. the pressure ratings are the same
Almostall ba rs and forgings manufacturers currently produce according to ASTM A105 and ASTM •
A350 LF2 Class1 requirements. In fact, it is quite common for material test reports to indicate
compliance with both A105 and A350 LF2 Class1, which is accomplished by adding impact test to
. meet the A350 LF2 Class1 requirements
. Noadditional costs are required both for IVM/OMB and customer •

Considering above, your acceptance of deviation from A105N to A350 LF2 Class1 will be only add more
value to your product without any modification of basic technical requirements.

For any further clarification we are at your disposal, you can send any technical question to our sales
department.
