1.) What do you mean by politics? Governance? Is there a governance

without politics? And politics without governance?

Answer: Politics are activities of the government concerning decision-

makings of a group in a country, while Governance is a process of decision-
making and which decisions are passed and implemented. I think there is no
such thing like governance without politics and politics without governance,
these two works together because if there are no politicians to make
decisions, there are also no decisions to be implemented and to be followed
by the nation, and if these two are not present at all, the country will be like
“disintegrated” and “broken”.

2. What is good governance? Bad governance? Can you give an example of

good governance and bad governance. Cite an example/instance wherein
bad/good governance is evident.

Answer: Good governance is the government’s approach which is being

committed in expressing participatory and Democratic governance. That
results full promotion of civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights for
all.

Example:

Title: "Kalinga State U discards NDF-provided reading materials" - Kalinga

State University pulled out on Sept. 2, 2021 all reading materials sent by the
National Democratic Front to its library. Officials said they reject all communist
ideologies.

While on the other hand, Bad Governance is the government’s approach that
shows a consequent of badly-implemented decisions and activities, most
likely corruption and deceit, two of many issues reported in the past years and
decades
Example:
Title: “Dark Legacy” - The inevitable conclusion is that this dark legacy of the
Marcos dictatorship in Philippine politics and governance has become a
matter of life or death for the millions of Filipinos who have lost their jobs and
are under threat from the pandemic. The martial law episode ended 35 years
ago but still casts a long shadow on the lives of the Filipino people. That
reality has thrust upon future administrations the responsibility of restoring
civilian supremacy in government, and of choosing competent and honest
officials so as to put some order and sanity in the way this country is
governed.

3.) Think of at least 5 government offices/department that show good/bad
governance..i.e.DOH,your thoughts/opinion on the way they are handling the
Covid 19 pandemic.

1. DOH (Good Governance) - fighting this pandemic is tough but they have
immediate actions implemented and provided for faster and stronger
prevention from the COVID-19 virus. Pushing out vaccines to be given and
distributed to the country is most practical way we can effectively protect
ourselves from this virus.
2. DepEd (Good Governance) - Despite of this pandemic, they make ways for
students to be possibly continue and restart the face-to-face classes and
provide the “quality-education” that hasn’t been experienced by students for a
couple of years in time.
3. IATF(Good Governance) - They are making sure that all rules and
regulations are being followed and monitored so that people are most likely
not to be infected while on a public places, and for the cases in our country
will gradually decrease to be finally a COVID-free nation.
4. PNP (Bad Governance) - for me they’re showing bad governance for the
reason that their tokhang-style of operations against communist groups is a
disrespect in any human rights. And it’s really not that right to kill people just
because they’re opposing sides.
5. DOLE (Bad Governance) - For me it’s bad for the country because we are
lacking of workers here and the government must find a solution on how can
we prioritize our safety instead of giving opportunities to other country leaving
ours behind.
