PARENTS’ ORIENTATION 2021

Handwashing with soap is one of the key elements of DepEd’s Comprehensive Water,

Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) in schools (WINS) Program as stipulated in DepEd Order No.

10, s. 2016. 

As part of the opening of the school year, Telbang National High School conducted a

face-to-face parents’ orientation to inform the parents about the updates and changes of the

educational setup in this COVID-19 Pandemic.

One of the primarily focused of the said orientation is about the Proper WASH practices.

As part of the the Brigada Eskwela Program, all advisers discussed the importance of

handwashing with soap and the proper handwashing on their respective classes. They

encouraged the parents together with their child to do proper hand washing as this is the best

ways to prevent the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19) and it is critical to food safety and

illness prevention such cold and flu.

It should be done particularly in these situations:

 After returning from a public outing (grocery store, work, school, concert,

sporting activity, hospital, nursing home, etc.).

 Before leaving the bathroom – both at home and in public bathrooms.

 After shaking hands during flu season and virus outbreaks.

 Before, during, and after preparing food, especially raw food.

  Before eating food.

 Before and after caring for someone at home who is sick with symptoms of

vomiting or diarrhea.

 Before and after treating a cut or wound.

 After changing diapers or cleaning up a child who has used the toilet.

 After blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.

 After touching an animal, animal feed, or animal waste.

 After handling pet food or pet treats.

 After touching garbage.

 After putting on your shoes.

 After using public computers, touching public tables and countertops, cash and

coins, other people’s phones, etc.

Through this orientation, parents, guardians, and students will have a clearer

understanding about the importance of handwashing with soap as an easy, effective, and

affordable way to prevent diseases and save lives.
