CC A30.1 Create a range of multimedia, oral texts that explore: identity (e.g., Define the Individual, Negotiate
the Community),

CC A30.3 Present and express a range of ideas and information in formal and informal (including discussions
and collaborative work) situations for differing audiences and purposes. 

1. Choose and research a Canadian musical artist on the Canadian Music Hall of Fame website.

Note: You may use other websites and resources for your research but the artist must be included on the CMHF
website.

2. Prepare an informal oral presentation to inform your peers about your research.

Include the following in your oral presentation:

 A description of the artist’s background (i.e. personal history, discography, concerts, claims to fame,
etc.)
 One example of the artist’s music including lyrics and music
 An explanation of how the artist and/or his music has contributed to Canadian culture or identity

*Keep in mind that your purpose is to INFORM your audience about your musician.

*Determine the best way to present one piece of the artist’s music including the lyrics and music to your audience.
Explain the meaning of the song. Depending on the song, you may choose to treat the song as a poem and provide
a brief analysis (literary techniques and how they contribute to the meaning)

*Prepare and practice the way you will present. You will also want to engage your audience by making your
presentation interesting. You will also need to consider and practice the elements of good speaking including eye
contact, speaking rate, volume, enunciation, inflection and gestures.
