ENGLISH PROJECT : ‘RAGA – A MUSICAL JOURNEY’ (CLASS

MAGAZINE)
OBJECTIVES:

1. To develop online research skills.

2. To enrich vocabulary and develop their creativity.
3. To acquire proficiency in productive skills and linguistic competencies.

LEARNING OUTCOMES:

1. Students will create a school magazine based on the given topic.

2. They will analyze and evaluate information based on their research.

PROJECT:

1. Create a class magazine on music and artists. Some suggestions are given below.
 Collect information on the commonly used musical instruments in any THREE of
the following categories:
 Indian classical music
 Ghazal singing
 Bharatnatyam, Chau and Kathak dance
 Folk music
 Jazz
 Pop/ Rock n Roll
 Collect photographs of musical instruments and make a word finder.
 Prepare ANY 2 biographical sketches of musicians, dancers, costume designers.
Collect information from sources like books, Internet, magazines, newspapers
etc.
 Give a suitable name to the magazine (master heading).
2. Writing Skill – Write an informal letter in 100-120 words to your friend about your
favourite instrumental music, musician or any musical concert that you attended.
Mention why you like the musical instrument or musician and what inspired you to learn
music. Mention your experience at the concert.
3. MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS:
1. Use A4-size white paper.
2. Left margin bigger than the right margin and top margin bigger than the bottom
margin.

 3. Essentially handwritten.
4. The magazine must have 8-10 pages.
5. All the pages must be numbered.
6. Cover page – cover image and masthead.
7. Inner cover page – Editorial. (Write your name, class and division here.)
Rest of the pages should consist of all that is discussed in the question which can be
in the form of photo features, small snippets, and short articles, puzzles etc.
Advertisements can appear in not more than 2 pages.
8. Inner back page – space for teachers comment and grades.
9. Back outer cover – Digital / Artwork / Cut paste of any famous musicians /
instrument.
10. Use good vocabulary and correct grammar.
11. Presentation and handwriting should be neat.
12. Use the NVS School magazine for reference.

3. WORDS AND EXPRESSION WORKBOOK

Complete Unit 1 and Unit 2 (IN PENCIL) very neatly. Cover and label the book with
transparent sheet.

4. Read books, newspapers and magazines to improve your language and general
knowledge.
5. Help your family members in whatever way you can.
6. Indulge yourself in learning a new skill. Plant trees whenever and wherever you can.
