Passengers are not permitted to enter Canada.
This does not apply to passengers who meet any of the following conditions, provided they have not been
refused boarding in the past 14 days due to a medical reason related to Covid-19:

Nationals and permanent residents of Canada, and their immediate family members (a spouse or
common-law partner and their parents or step-parents, dependent children and their dependent
children, and guardians or tutors) of Canadian nationals or residents,
passengers whose application for permanent residence in Canada has been approved, and who
have received written notice of the approval on or before 18th March 2020 noon (EDT) but have not
yet become a permanent resident,
Extended family members (non-dependent children, non-dependent step-children, grandchildren or
step-grandchildren, siblings (including step and half siblings), individual aged 18 years and above
who is in a romantic relationship for more than 1 year with an individual who is also 18 years old or
above) of Canadian nationals, or permanent residents who will stay in Canada for 15 days or more,
provided holding a Statutory declaration signed by their extended family member in Canada, and
an approved authorization for travel from the government of Canada (GoC)/Immigration, Refugees
and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) obtained before travel,
Passengers travelling from United Kingdom or United States,
Passengers arriving in Canada for compassionate travel, provided holding an approval letter for
compassionate travel issued by Public Health Agency of Canada,
Passengers in transit through Canada (including those changing terminals within the same airport,
but not passengers who otherwise leave the airport),
Passengers registered as an Indian under the Indian Act,
Passengers who hold written authorisation from a consular officer of the Government of Canada to
enter Canada for the purpose of reuniting immediate family members,
Crew members,
Accredited diplomats or representatives of international organisations and their immediate family
members,
Members of the Canadian military, visiting forces, and their immediate family members,
Protected Persons,
French residents of St. Pierre and Miquelon who have only been in St. Pierre and Miquelon, United
States or Canada for at least 14 days,
Essential workers travelling to Canada, this includes: officials of a foreign government (including
border service officers, immigration enforcement officers, law enforcement and correctional officers,
who are escorting individuals travelling to or from Canada for a legal process such as deportation,
extradition or international transfer of offenders), technicians or specialists specified by government
authorities, personnel to support critical infrastructure (energy and utilities, information and
communication technologies, finance, health, food, water, transportation, safety, government and
manufacturing), business travellers for after-sales services, temporary workers entering for 15 or 30
days, and workers required for urgent repairs. A letter of approval issued by Canada is no longer
required for these passengers,
Students with a valid study permit or a letter of approval issued by the government of Canada
stating that their application for a study permit has been approved. This includes the immediate
family members of the students if they are going to Canada to settle for an extended period.
Students must be attending a designated learning institution (DLI) deemed as having the
appropriate public-health measures. The list of institutions can be found here,
Passengers travelling to provide an essential service or medical assistance in Canada,
Passengers whose entry the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, or Public Safety have
determined to be in the national interests.

Passengers are not permitted to enter Canada from United States unless travelling for essential purposes.
This does not apply to:

Nationals of Canada and United States,


Residents of Canada,
Diplomats,
Passengers in transit.

Passengers travelling to Canada must use ArriveCan mobile app prior to departure to submit the following
personal information:

Travel and contact information,


Quarantine plan (unless exempted from the requirement to quarantine),
Covid-19 symptom self-assessments.

Passengers must show the ArriveCAN receipt (a screenshot or printed copy) on arrival in Canada.
Passengers who do not submit the required information could face additional delays at the border for
public health questioning and be subject to enforcement action, which can range from verbal warnings to
a fine.
Passengers aged 5 years or older will be refused entry if they do not hold a negative Covid-19 molecular
test result taken within 72 hours prior to the final departure to Canada, or a positive test result obtained
between 14 and 90 days prior to departure. The accepted molecular tests include PCR, RT-PCR, qPCR,
NAT, NAATs, RT-LAMP, ddPCR, RNA, Ct, CRISPR, NGS, WGS, LamPORE, Isothermal amplification,
Sequencing, and Detection of the Ngene, Orf1a/b, the S gene, the E gene, the RdRp gene tests. The test
must include the passenger's name, date of birth, the date the test was taken, the address of the facility
that administered the test, the test method and the result.
This does not apply to:

Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or persons registered as Indians under the Indian Act who
have been denied entry at their final destination and must subsequently board a flight to Canada
and are therefore unable to obtain a Covid-19 test,
Passengers in transit through Canada provided they do not leave the international transit area of
the airport,
Crew members,
Passengers with the approval of Canada’s Chief Public Health Officer, the Minister of Health, or
Transport Canada,
Passengers holding a signed and stamped copy of the Embassy of Canada Letter Issued Pursuant
to Exemption C2021-25 from the Canadian embassy in Yangon, confirming the passengers details
and acknowledgement of the conditions for travel.

Passengers arriving in New Brunswick are not permitted to enter unless they hold approval from the New
Brunswick government obtained through the New Brunswick Travel Registration Program online here.
Passengers must quarantine for 14 days on arrival in New Brunswick.
Passengers travelling to Canada are advised to hold a medical certificate if they have a high temperature
or are exhibiting Covid-19-like symptoms to prove they are free of Covid-19.
Passengers are not permitted to arrive in Canada through airports which are not Montréal–Trudeau
International Airport (YUL), Calgary International Airport (YYC), Toronto Pearson International Airport
(YYZ) or Vancouver International Airport (YVR).
This does not apply to:

Passengers arriving from Antigua and Barbuda, Argentina, Aruba, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize,
Bolivia, Brazil, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba,
Dominica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, French Guiana, Grenada, Guadeloupe,
Guatemala, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Martinique, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay,
Peru, Puerto Rico, Saint Pierre and Miquelon, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Saint-Barthélemy,
St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, Turks and Caicos Islands, U.S. Virgin
Islands, United States, Uruguay or Venezuela,
Technical stops where passengers do not disembark,
Alternate landing plan due to the weather condition,
Aircraft safety situations,
Special permission has been granted by the Canadian authorities.

Passenger travelling domestically are required to quarantine for 3 days in a designated hotel at their first
point of entry in Canada, or they will not be permitted to continue their journey.
Passengers aged 6 years and older need to wear a face mask at the airport and during their entire trip. It
is also strongly recommended for children aged 2 years to 5 years to wear a face mask.
Passengers will be subject to PCR testing on arrival at Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ).
Passengers are advised to register prior to arrival at Switch Health here.
Passengers will be subject to PCR testing on arrival at Montreal Pierre E. Trudeau International Airport
(YUL). Passengers are advised to register here prior to arrival.
Passengers will be subject to a mandatory Covid-19 test upon arrival in Canada, and must quarantine in a
designated hotel for 3 nights at their own cost until they receive their test results. Passengers must ensure
they have booked for the 3-night quarantine in a designated hotel before travel. Passengers who test
negative will continue their quarantine until the 14th day, and will be subject to another Covid-19 test
toward the end of the quarantine. Passengers who test positive will be required to quarantine in a Public
Health Agency Canada facility. Passengers with domestic connecting flights will only be able to continue
their journey after the 3-day quarantine in a designated hotel at their first point of entry in Canada.  All
hotels will be located near one of the following 4 Canadian airports which are currently accepting
international flights: Montréal–Trudeau International Airport (YUL), Calgary International Airport (YYC),
Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) and Vancouver International Airport (YVR). A full list of hotels

The requirement of 3-day quarantine does not apply to:

Crew members,
Passengers who have tested positive for Covid-19 on a sample collected between 14 and 90 days
before the scheduled departure of their flights, as they will not be required to undergo the
mandatory Covid-19 test upon arrival and can proceed directly to their final quarantine destination,
Transit passengers with international connecting flights, including passengers with connecting
flights to French Polynesia.

Passengers transiting in Canada must meet all of the following requirements:

Passengers transiting at Montréal–Trudeau International Airport (YUL), Calgary International Airport


(YYC) or Vancouver International Airport (YVR) must be transiting on the same operating day.
Overnight transit is not permitted,
Passengers transiting at Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) must be transiting within 24
hours. Overnight transit and inter-terminal connections are permitted,
Transit passengers must be arriving and departing from the same Canadian airport, and must not
leave the sterile area of the airport,
Passengers must have checked their baggage to their final destination.

    Mandatory proof of vaccination  

  Travelers who are fully vaccinated must have a vaccination certificate in English, French, or with a
certified translation. The certificate must be uploaded digitally into the ArriveCAN app and must contain all
details required.

Fully vaccinated travelers must have received the full course of vaccination, or a combination of vaccines
Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca (Covishield), or Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) at least 14 days before
  arrival in Canada.  

Travelers who have recovered from COVID-19 are still required to have a full course of one of the
accepted vaccines to be considered fully vaccinated.

Travelers unable to present a valid certificate may be required to comply with rules for unvaccinated
travelers.

Before visiting Canada you may need to get the following vaccinations or take the following precautions. It
is best to seek medical advice as your individual health and your planned activities will be a factor. Seek
advice 4-6 weeks before travel.
Required Vaccinations
There are no vaccinations required for entry to Canada.
Routine and Recommended Vaccinations
It is recommended that travellers are up to date on routine vaccinations including measles-mumps-
rubella (MMR), diphtheria-pertussis-tetanus (DPT), varicella (chickenpox), polio, and yearly flu
shots.
As hepatitis A outbreaks occur throughout the world and sometimes in countries with a low risk for
hepatitis A, travellers should consult with their doctor prior to travel to see if the hepatitis A vaccine
is necessary.
A hepatitis B vaccination is recommended for those who may have sexual contact with a new
partner, who may get a tattoo or piercing, or have any medical procedures.
A rabies vaccination is recommended for those planning an outdoor holiday, for wildlife
professionals and researchers, or for those who may come into contact with bats.

Tobacco (restricted to travellers 18 years and over)
All of the following:
200 cigarettes;
50 cigars;
200 grams of manufactured tobacco; and
200 tobacco sticks.
Note: in order to qualify for a personal exemption on tobacco, all packages must be stamped "duty
paid Canada droit acquitté".
Alcohol (restricted to travellers 18 years and over in Alberta, Manitoba, and Quebec, and 19 years
in other provinces of Canada)
One of the following:
1.5 litres of wine;
1.14 litres of spirits; or
8.5 litres of beer or ale.
Currency
Any amount up to CAD$10,000 (or foreign equivalent) can be freely imported or exported.
Travellers must report anything over this amount to the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA)

Other Goods
Travellers may bring 'personal baggage' for their own use. This includes clothing, camping and
sport goods, cameras and computers. These must leave Canada when the traveller leaves.
Gifts can be imported if each gift is valued at CAD$60 or less. Alcoholic beverages, tobacco
products, or commercial goods may not be claimed as gifts.
Seeing-eye dogs are allowed into Canada without restrictions.

Prohibited
The following are prohibited from being imported into Canada:
Child pornography;
Hate propaganda;
Obscene material;
Counterfeit coins;
Goods with a misleading country of origin; and
White phosphorus matches.
Restricted
These goods are strictly regulated, and in most cases require a permit to be obtained prior to
arrival.

  HEALTH REGULATIONS  

    Before visiting Afghanistan you may need to get the following vaccinations or take the following

Required Vaccinations
There is no risk of yellow fever in Afghanistan. The government of Afghanistan requires proof of
yellow fever vaccination from travellers who are arriving from a country with risk of yellow fever. For

Routine and Recommended Vaccinations and Medications
It is recommended that travellers are up to date on routine vaccinations including measles-mumps-
rubella (MMR), diphtheria-pertussis-tetanus (DPT), varicella (chickenpox), polio, and yearly flu
shots.
A hepatitis A vaccination is recommended as travellers may contract hepatitis A through
contaminated food or water in Afghanistan, regardless of where they are eating or staying.
A hepatitis B vaccination is recommended for those who may have sexual contact with a new
partner, who may get a tattoo or piercing, or have any medical procedures.
 A typhoid vaccination is recommended for most travellers, especially those staying with friends or
relatives, visiting smaller cities or rural areas, or for those that are adventurous eaters.
A polio vaccination may be needed depending on vaccination history. If a traveller was vaccinated
against polio as a child but has never received a booster dose as an adult, they should get this
booster dose. Travellers who have never been vaccinated or do not know their vaccination status
should seek advice from a doctor before travel.
Note: Travellers who have been in Afghanistan for more than 4 weeks may be required to show
proof of polio vaccination when exiting the country. In order to meet this requirement, travellers
should receive their polio vaccine between 4 weeks and 12 months before the date they will leave
Afghanistan. Consultation should be sought from a doctor regarding this requirement.
Cholera is a risk in Afghanistan, and this vaccination is recommended for adults who are travelling
to an area of active cholera transmission. However, because cholera is extremely rare in travellers,
consultation with a doctor regarding this vaccination should be sought prior to travel. For further

A rabies vaccination is recommended for those planning an outdoor holiday, for wildlife
professionals such as veterinarians and researchers, for those who are taking a long trip or moving
to Afghanistan, and children as they are more likely to receive animal bites.
Malaria is a risk in Afghanistan. Travellers to certain areas may need to take anti-malarial
medication. Consultation with a doctor regarding this medication should be sought prior to travel.

 Note: Chloroquine is NOT an effective anti-malarial medication in Afghanistan.
