3. A 350mm long conductor carries a current of 10A and is at right-angles to a magnetic field
lying between 2 circular pole faces each of radius 60mm. If the total flux between the pole
faces is 0.5 mWb, calculate the magnitude of the force exerted on the conductor.

4. The maximum working flux density of a lifting electromagnet is 1.8 T and the effective
area of a pole face is circular in cross-section. If the total magnetic flux produced is
353mWb, determine the radius of the pole face. (2 marks)
5. A conductor moves with a velocity of 15m/s at an angle of (a) 90◦ and (c) 30◦ to a magnetic
field produced between 2 square-faced poles of side length 2cm. If the flux
leaving a pole face is 5µWb, find the magnitude of the induced e.m.f. in each case.(2 marks)
