Contact Hours/week L2, T1 Course Objectives & The objectives of this course are; equipping students with Competences to be knowledge of the kinds and importance of research activities, Acquired fundamentals of data processing, basic principles of experimental design, steps in indentifying researchable problems, planning and executing experiments, making conclusions and forwarding recommendations. Upon the completion of the course the students are expected to have the following expertise and skills: develop research proposal Identify problems & develop a proposal with detailed plan, execution of experiments finally report their findings enhanced ability to work in teams ability to demonstrate a professional level of communication (written, graphical/drawing and verbal) and presentation skills with clients, vendors and peers Know fundamentals of data processing The course highlights the basic norms of research methodology, Course description experimental design and data analysis. 1. Selecting a research topics; formulation of research problem, research project proposal and scientific report writing. 2. Research Methodology: problem identification, selection of factors and response variables, sample size and sampling Course Contents/ techniques, Outlines 3. Principles of experimental design and types of experiments 4. Experimental designs for comparative and factorial experiments (CRD, RBD, Latin Square, and split plot design). 5. If any student misses 15% of the allocated class time during the term, he/she should not sit for final exam of this course. Assignments: each student must do his/her assignment on time. No late assignment will be accepted. Tests/Quizzes: short quizzes and tests may be administered any time as deemed necessary. If a student miss the class or, is late to class, he/she will miss the quiz or test. No makeup tests or quizzes will be given. Cheating: each student must do his/her own work and not copy and get answers from someone else. Chewing gum, eating, listening to recorders or CD players, wearing sunglasses, or talking and murmuring about any other issue during lecture is prohibited.
