NEWS ANALYSIS

THINK ABOUT THIS!

1. The news is all about the COVID-19 here in the Philippines, and it mainly
focused on the Duterte administration having been poked by the Bagong
Alyansang Makabayan (Bayan) to boost mass testing amidst extended
lockdowns to certain areas in the Philippines that have high risk of transmission
of the virus. In addition, the article stated the importance of utilizing the
quarantine period to conduct mass testing as much as possible in order to make
rapid changes to the current situation.

2. In this pandemic, truthfully speaking, many things have been exposed such as
injustices, continuous degradation of the marginalized population, the seemingly
questionable moves of the government in fighting the virus – to name a few.
Having said these, we can draw that all of these concepts could be anchored to
culture, society, and politics. Hence, my knowledge on these areas will help me
realign my thoughts and to think critically as I traverse the road of challenges
brought about by this pandemic.

As I dig deeper and comprehend more on these 3 salient points, it will guide me
in making decisions for my everyday life in a way that will make me contribute to
the betterment of our current situation. Understanding the society, where the gap
of the privileged and marginalized is highlighted, will make me realize there are
injustices in this world which we can eradicate, only if we take necessary and
appropriate steps. In the world of politics, basing from how they perform in the
fight against the virus, I will be guided in choosing the right leaders in the future,
when the power to vote is vested upon me. Ultimately, in my own little ways, I will
try to make better bounces and leaps by integrating my comprehensions on
these 3 areas in order for me to survive, and to create more awareness for
humanity.

3. The “Bayanihan As One Act” makes every citizen of our community work
accordingly under the given protocols by the government. By using face mask,
alcohol and also observing social distancing. They are maybe small things, but
working and following these rules/protocols as one community and as one nation,
we can face this and put an end to this pandemic at any time.
4. As a campus journalist, I believe that coping up with the pandemic before was
hard because I have to adjust to the new normal and need to change my lifestyle
to adapt and survive the pandemic. I believe that this COVID-19 brought stress to
us all, and in order for me to cope up with it, I used my skills in photography and
film making. Taking photos of myself, my cousins and my nieces and making
short films that advocates, “staying at home is a big help to the “Bayanihan To
Heal As One Act”. These two are some of the many things that I did to cope up
with the pandemic, it did not just help myself to hone my skills but I was able to
give people the right information that is needed at these times.
