The Emaar Properties has 100 lands on which it is about to build a home on each land. Two styles of
homes are to be built, the Villas and the Duplexes. Emaar wishes to build these homes over the next nine
months. During this time, Emaar will have available 13,000 man-hours of bricklayer labour and 12,000
hours of carpenter labour. Each Villa requires 200 man-hours of carpentry labour and 50 man-hours of
bricklayer labour. Each Duplex requires 120 hours of bricklayer labour and 100 man-hours of carpentry.
The profit contribution of Villa Home is projected to be 204,000 SAR while that of a Duplex Home is
projected at 200,000 SAR.

• You wish to produce two products (1) DVD Player and (2) TV
• DVD Player takes 4 hours of electronic work and 2 hours assembly
• TV takes 3 hours electronic work and 1 hour assembly
• There are 240 hours of electronic work time and 100 hours of assembly time available
• Profit on a DVD Player is 7 SAR; profit on a TV 5 SAR

a) Formulate this as a linear programming problem.
b) Solve the previous problem by using the graphical method.

You’re an analyst for a division of Kodak, which makes BW & color chemicals. At least 30 tons of BW
and at least 20 tons of color must be made each month. The total chemicals made must be at least 60
tons. BW cost 2,500 SAR per month and color cost 3,000 SAR.
