TRANSFUSION REFUSAL

Jehovah’s witness (JW) is a Christian denomination with nontrinitarian beliefs.

They are well-known for their refusal to receive blood transfusion, leading to numerous
challenges for medical practitioners to treat them. According to the Bible Verses (Genesis
9:4, Leviticus 17:10, and Acts 15:29)

They believe that it is against God’s will to receive blood as blood represents life
and is sacred to God. it prohibits them from ingesting blood and that Christians should not
donate blood, store blood for transfusion, and accept blood transfusion.

JW believe that when Christians abstain from blood, they stand expressing faith
that only the shed blood of Jesus Christ can truly redeem them and save their life. A
baptized Witness who accepts a blood transfusion is deemed to have disassociated
himself from the religion by abandoning its doctrines. Hence, The willing acceptance of
blood transfusions by JW has in some cases led to expulsion from and ostracization by
their religious community.
