Dear Sir/Madam

I am writing to complain about a pair of shoes I bought at your store.

I bought the shoes last week. They are a pair of stilettos made by Acme, model Highrise. They cost
$250. I only wore the shoes once, and the heel of the right shoe broke off. I was walking along an
ordinary city street when it broke and I fell over, twisting my ankle.

The next day I took the shoes to your store and asked for a refund. The sales assistant asked for
proof of purchase, so I showed her the receipt. She pointed out a note on the receipt that read,
‘Please retain receipt. Exchanges may be made within 7 days if product has not been worn.’

The assistant refused to give me my money back because she said the shoes had been worn. I told her
the shoes were faulty and shouldn’t have broken so easily. She said it was my fault they broke and I
should have looked where I was going. When I disagreed, she kicked me out of the store!

I did not trip until after the shoe broke. Those shoes were very expensive and I expected them to last
more than one day! I have bought many shoes from your shop in the past and consider myself a loyal
customer, but am very upset by the way that I have been treated. And my ankle now hurts!

I would like an apology and a refund. Can you please arrange this?

Yours sincerely
