B. QUANTITATIVE RELATIONSHIPS

DIRECTION: Each item in this test consist of two quantities. One in column A and the
other in column B. Compare the two quantities. On the blank after the appropriate number
on your Answer Sheet, blacken the letter.

A – If the quantity in column A is greater than that in column B.

B – If the quantity in column B is greater than that in column A.
C – If the two quantities are equal.
D – If the sizes of quantities cannot be determined from the information given.

NOTE:

a) In certain items, information about the quantities being compared is presented

immediately above and centered between the two columns.
b) A symbol used in both columns stands for the same thing in column B as is does
in column A.
c) All numbers in the test stand for real numbers. Letters such as X or Y, A or B stand for
real numbers.

D. DATA SUFFICIENCY
This is the test designed to measure your knowledge of problem solving
procedures rather than your computational skills. It is important to read the directions
carefully and study the examples given before you start the test.

DIRECTIONS: Two statements labelled A) and B) are given. These are followed by a
question which you are not expected to decide whether the data given in the two
statements are sufficient for answering the question. Use the information given in the
statements, together with your knowledge of mathematics and everyday facts in deciding
whether the data are sufficient or insufficient. Blacken the letter which corresponds to your
answer after the item number in your answer sheet.

BLACKEN:
A – If ONE of the statements alone is sufficient but the other statement is NOT
sufficient to answer the question asked.
B – If BOTH statements A) and B) together are needed to answer the question asked,
but neither statement alone is sufficient.
C – If EACH statement is sufficient by itself to answer the question asked.
D – if statements A) and B) together are NOT sufficient to answer the question asked,
that is, additional data specific to the problem are needed.

EXAMPLE:
A) A school parking lot is rectangular in shape.
B) The parking lot is 42 m long and 21 m wide.
What is the ratio of the length of the parking lot to its width?

Only statement B is needed to answer the question. Since the length is 42 m and
the width is 21 m. The desired answer is 2 : 1. Therefore, the correct answer is letter A.
