Provide a Philosophical Concept that you think is relatable to yourself. Kindly support your answer
by citing a proponent and their view of their human nature. (minimum of ten (10) sentences to a maximum
of fifteen (15) sentences only)

The concept of “God as the source of all reality and truth” is the most relatable to myself. As a
Catholic, I do believe that a Creator or God exist. And that this creator is the source of everything
including all the realities and truthfulness. As what St. Augustine of Hippo believes that man is
capable of knowing the eternal truths through connecting with the existential God being the one
eternal truth. We also have the same view of human nature that the cause of sin or evil is an act of
man’s freewill and disobedience. We do have a freedom to choose what we want, even if it’s good
or bad, because God gave us a freewill to choose in the beginning. I also believe that man’s
constant contact with God will result in achieving moral goodness in life. St. Augustine was
initially optimistic about the ability of humans to behave morally, at the end he is pessimistic, and
thinks that original sin makes human moral behavior nearly impossible: if it were not for the rare
appearance of an accidental and undeserved Grace of God, humans could not be moral. Because
of God’s grace and mercy humans were able to be saved from sin that hinders man to come to
God. Man is constantly searching for happiness and yet constantly failing and uncontented.
Augustine also believed that “God is love and he created humans for them to also love.” The true
love and happiness can only be achieved through God who is love Himself. And that loving things
aside from God will not give absolute happiness and satisfaction. These are the things I believe
and agree with myself, and surprisingly connected with St. Augustine’ view of their human nature.
