● Connect only the indoor units fit on R410A refrigerant. Check whether the indoor units can be connected with the
product’s catalogue.
(When incorrect indoor units are connected, they cannot operate normally.)
If you don’t follow the safety precautions, you may get the risk of serious wound or death.
● The installation must be done by the manufacturer or its service agent or a similar qualified person in order to avoid a hazard.
– Installation by an unqualified person may cause a water leakage, electric shock or fire and so on.
● The electric work must be done by service agent or similarly qualified persons according to national wiring regulations and use
only rated cable.
– If the capacity of the power cable is insufficient or electric work is not properly completed, electric shock or fire may occur.
● Install the outdoor unit correctly according to the installation manual.
– An incorrect installation may cause a water leakage, electric shock or fire and so on.
● Manufacturer is not responsible for accidents due to incorrect installation.
● When you install the air conditioner in a small room, you consider a proper ventilation to prevent a leakage level within the
maximum permissible limit.
– In that case, you may die from suffocation by some possibility.
● Use only rated parts and tools.
– If you don’t use the rated parts and tools, it can cause trouble with the air conditioner and bring about injury.
● Install the outdoor unit on a hard and even place that can support its weight.
– If the place cannot support its weight, the outdoor unit may fall down and it may cause injury.
● Fix the outdoor unit securely to prepare against strong wind or earthquake.
– If the outdoor unit is not properly fixed, it turns over and accidents may occur.
● Install the cables with supplied cables firmly.Fix them securely so that external force is not exerted to the terminal board.
– If the connection or fixing is incomplete, it can cause trouble with a heat generation, electric shock or fire and so on.
● Arrange the cables between the indoor and outdoor unit after connecting.Attach the cover securely so that the electrical
component box cover does not get loosen.
– If the cover is attached incompletely, it can cause trouble with a heat generation, electric shock or fire of the terminal board.
● Install separate MCCB and ELB when installing the power cable.
– If you do not install the MCCB and ELB, electric shock or fire may occur.
● The unit must be plugged into an independent circuit if applicable or connect the power cable to the auxiliary circuit breaker.
An all pole disconnection from the power supply must be incorporated in the fixed wiring with a contact opening of >3mm.
● If any gas or impurities except R410A refrigerant come into the refrigerant pipe, serious problem may occur and it may cause
injury.
● Make sure there is no leakage after installation.
– Toxic gas may generate when refrigerant gas contacts with fire.
● Leak test must be done using only Nitrogen(NO2)gas.
If you don’t follow the safety precautions, you may get the risk of injury or loss of property.

Orbiting Scroll
Note : • The Digital Scroll operates in 2 states: loaded state and unloaded state. There is an external solenoid valve in the Digital
Scroll. When a 220V signal is given to the solenoid valve, the top scroll moves up by about 1 mm.
The movement of the top scroll creates a gap between the 2 scroll elements and there is no axial sealing between the
scrolls. As a result, even though the motor is running, the compressor is unable to compress any refrigerant.
The capacity in the loaded state is 100% and during the unloaded state is 0%. Capacity from the compressor is a time
average of the loaded state and the unloaded state. For example, in a cycle time of 20 seconds, if the scrolls are loaded
for 10 seconds and unloaded for 10 seconds, the time-averaged capacity is 50%.
The PWM receives the On/Off signal and controls the loading/unloading status. When the PWM valve is turned off, the fixed scroll
is pushed down to the orbiting scroll (Loading). When the PWM valve is turned on, the fixed scroll is separated from the orbiting
scroll (Unloading). This process is repeatedly done to make the outdoor unit controlling automatically depending on the number of
operating indoor unit(s) and their weighting factors.

The graph shows that the unloaded power consumption is 10% of full load power in case of 6 seconds loaded and 6 seconds
unloaded. In each cycle of modulation, the discharge pressure builds up during the loaded cycle, then the discharge pressure
decreases during the unloaded cycle. Similarly, the suction pressure decreases during the loaded cycle and it increases during
the unloaded cycle. The transition time to build up the pressure is a fraction of a second. The average value is around 0.4 sec-

Reliability of the compressor is very important in multi evaporator systems, where only one compressor is air-conditioning the
whole area. The DSC compressor has passed high compression tests, high load tests, start/stop tests and many other extreme
tests, to deliver class leading reliability.
The solenoid valve of the Digital Scroll has a life of 40 million cycles equivalent to 30 years normal usage.

1. If the power is on, check the power to be used for 3 phase power compressor.
If there is any change of order for 3 phase L1(R)-L2(S)-L3-(T) (reverse phase) or the phase power
(missing phase) which means the power is not on, E425 are indicated alternately and the air conditioner is kept to
stop.

: An error occurs and starting is prohibited right before starting the heat mode with
refrigerant charging operation by the K1 switch of outdoor PCB or when outdoor
temperature is over 15°C.
1. Check Method
The above error code is not for the products' error. Because this specification is to protect the products by restricting the
temperature ranges, use it by referring the temperature range of use condition in the manual.
If the above error code is occurred despite the condition does not correspond to the above judgment method, read the value
of the outdoor inlet air temperature sensor by use of the view mode or S-net, and then if the value is different from the actual
outdoor temperature, replace the temperature sensor.

cooling operation and below 2.6kg/ cm2G during heating operation, start is prohibited.
(Impossible to restart and error display on the indoor unit).
1. Check Method
1) Measure the pressure using the Manifold Gauge when the system is stopped.
2) Read the low pressure sensor value using the View Mode or S-net.
3) If the value of no. 1 and no. 2 is similar, refrigerant is leaked out almost; therefore, release remaining refrigerant, vacuum
again, and recharge it.
4) If the value of no. 1 and no. 2 is different by much, check and replace it because the contact badness of low pressure
sensor connector part or defect of the sensor itself.
• Above error can be occurred because pressure is low on the low pressure side according to the refrigerant is
only gathered at the outdoor heat exchanger after pump-down. In this case, after correctly connecting the
pipe to the indoor unit and open the service valve, refrigerant circulates to the low pressure side; thus, the
error is disappeared.

• The replacement of PWM valve due to the loading failure is the difficult work to abolish the refrigerant in the
system and recharging it, and there is little possibility to appear actually.
So, check the above check items carefully.
• The restart after OLP trip is possible only when the inside temperature of compressor is down lower than 60˚C,
and therefore it takes about 2~3 hours.
• If waiting at the state that the power is on during the temperature failing down.
CCH(Crank case heater) operates to delay the time to restart. Accordingly, separate the connecter to the CCH
to block the power and reconnect the connecter after the completion of final check.

tion.
1. Purpose :
According to the valves such as EEV, Solenoid Valve, and Check Valve, the vacuum and the emission of refrigerant may not be
succeeded smoothly. Therefore, insert a separate operation mode for the vacuum or the complete emission of refrigerant.
4. Operation Method :
All the EEV of the outdoor unit on the vacuum mode is opened to the maximum degree of openness and all the Solenoid Valve is
waited on the open state.
Breakdown
1. Same as above illustration, prevent spreading of the contaminant from the breakdown compressor by equipping the Filter Drier
to the liquid pipe side of each outdoor unit after replacing the compressor.
2. Applied Filter
2. Because DVM plus 2 is the air-conditioning and heating product, must use the Bi-Directional Filter Drier.
Use the Filter Drier specified on the below according to the outdoor unit's capacity.

• Must use the Bi-Directional Filter Drier that are stated on the above Table.
• The installation location of the Filter Drier is the liquid pipe in front of the outdoor unit as stated the above
illustration. (Do not install on the gas side's pipe)
• If opening and leaving the Seal Cap on the both side of the Filter Drier for a while, the efficiency of moisture
absorption by the Drier is decreased. So, open the Seal Cap right before the installation.
• If the foreign substance is accumulated on the Filter excessively, clogging may be generated; so, must be
careful. (Need to replace when the temperature difference between before and after of Filter Drier is over 1˚C)

A When it is hot outside, its cooling capacity decreases due to the increase of the ambient temperature.
When the dust filter gets blocked or warm outside air gets in, the cooling capacity will decrease. So,
make sure to clean the dust filter frequently, prevent heat loss by closing the doors and insulate the
cooling area by using curtains, blinds, shades or window tinting.
Q The cooling is good generally. But, it gets weak when it is considerably hot.
A It occurs when the outdoor unit is exposed to direct sun light and heat-up air is not ventilated well.
So, set up a sunblind over the outdoor unit and keep stuff away from the unit to increase the ventila-
tion. When the cooling capacity decreases during a heat wave, clean the heat exchanger of the out-
door unit or spray some cold water to the heat exchanger to increase the cooling capability.
Cooling
Q The cooling is weak. Does it need refrigerant charging?
A It is not correct charging refrigerant regularly. Except that you have moved in several times or the
connection pipes are broken, the refrigerant does not run low. So, when refrigerant is additionally
charged, it could be costly and cause a product's failure. When the refrigerant leaks, all of it will
escape in a short time resulting in cooling failure and no water coming out of the drain hose. So, if
water comes out from the drain hose, it indicates the normal operation of the product and it does not
need refrigerant charging.
Q It fails to do cooling.
A When the air conditioner is set to Ventilation or the desired temperature is set higher than the current
temperature, it fails to do cooling. In this case, select Cooling or set the desired temperature lower.
A Place the drain hose properly. When it is not placed properly, the drain water would flow back flooding
the floor. So, straighten out the drain hose for the water to be drained well.
Q Water drips at the drain connection (service valve) of the outdoor unit.
A When a glass bottle is taken out of the refrigerator, moisture gets condensed on its surface due to the
temperature differences. The same principle applies to the air conditioner. When cold refrigerant goes
through the copper tube, moisture gets condensed on the surface of the tube and the connection
Leakage areas. To prevent the water condensation, the pipes are insulated. But, the connection areas of the
outdoor unit are not insulated for the purpose of maintenance or repair, and water gets condensed due
to the temperature differences and drips down. Generally, it evaporates right away. But, when it drips
much during muggy days, put a water pan on the floor.
A It occurs when the drain pump is plugged out or it is out of order. Check the power of the drain pump
and the position of the drain hose, and when the pump is faulty, contact the drain pump manufacturer.
Samsung Electronics do not manufacture drain pumps. So, we are not able to correct the drain pump
problems.
Q Whenever the air conditioner is turned on, it irritates my eyes and gives me a headache.
A There are no components in the air conditioner irritating the eyes and sending out chemical smells.
Smells But, when the air conditioner is turned on, other smell sources are sucked into the air conditioner and
get out of it. So, find and root out the smell sources. Generally, it occurs at a interior renovated place,
a pharmacy, a gasoline handling place, a tire shop, a second-hand book shop or an electronic
component handling place; when its chemical or musty smells are sucked in and sent out, it can be
misled that the air conditioner generates them. So, find and root out the problem or refresh the room
frequently.
A There are no components in the air conditioner sending out chemical smells. But, when the air condi-
tioner is turned on, other smell sources are sucked into the air conditioner and get out of it. So, find
and root out the smell sources. Generally, when the drain hose is taken out to the washing room or
there are sources of smells such as a diaper bin, a shoe shelf or a socks bin, bad smells generate.
Also, it occurs where glass cleaners or air fresheners are used; when they are sucked in interacting
with dusts and moistures inside, bad smells generate. These kinds of organic materials noxious to
human bodies. So, we recommend against the use of them.
A When the room is papered recently, its paste smells would be sucked inside. Also, when the air condi-
tioner is installed in the study room of young boys loving sweat-generating activities such as the bas-
Smells ketball, excessive sweats evaporate and get sucked into the air conditioner resulting in bad smells. So,
find and root out the problem or refresh the room frequently.
A It is due to the improper keeping of the product after its use. When keeping the product, dry up the
inside with the operation of Ventilation to prevent must. When the product is kept without drying up the
inside with Ventilation, mold would grow inside resulting in must. So, open the windows and switch on
the Ventilation function to get rid of the saturated smell inside.
Q Whenever the air conditioner is turned on, it sends out bad smells such as stale smells.
A It occurs generally when there are pet animals in the house. Their smells stay at the same place.
But, when the air conditioner is turned on, the air gets circulated resulting in the circulation of the
smells. So, find and root out the problem or refresh the room frequently.
A When the air filter is filthy, it could send out bad smells. So, clean the filter and ventilate the room with
the windows open while operating the Ventilation function.
Q It won't start.
A There is a power failure or it is plugged out. Also, check if the power distribution panel is switched off.
A When the hot air does not escape properly, it goes off during operation. It occurs when it does not
ventilate properly because the outdoor unit is covered, the back of the outdoor unit is blocked by a
cardboard or a plywood panel, and the front of the outdoor unit is blocked by the closed window or
Operation
other obstacles. Clear the above obstacles from the outdoor unit.
Q It generally works properly. But, when it's considerably hot, it goes off during operation.
A It occurs when the outdoor unit is exposed to direct sunlight and the hot air does not escape properly.
Set up a sun blind over the outdoor unit and clear the neighboring obstacles from the outdoor unit to
provide good ventilation. When it goes off frequently during a heat wave, it would prevent the turn-off and
increase the cooling capacity cleaning the outdoor unit or spraying some water to the heat exchanger.
A When the batteries run out or the transmitter or receiver of the remote controller is blocked by obsta-
Operation cles, change the batteries or keep the obstacles away from the controlling area. Also, the remote con-
troller may not work under intensive light from a 3-wave length lamp or a neon sign due to the EMI.
In this case, take the remote controller closer to the receiver.
A When relocating or re-installing the air conditioner, make sure to contact Samsung Electronics Service
Center or Authorized Service Agent and have them to do the job.(If not, it could cause personal injury
or product damage.)
The cost for the relocation/re-installation of the air conditioner is subject to the customer's expense.
There is a cost table. But, our service engineer needs to visit to total up the cost correctly.
When you move in, make sure to contact Samsung Electronics Service Center or Authorized Service
Agent in advance to streamline the process.
Q What can be done to install the outdoor unit facing the road because it is a commercial building?
A The following is an excerpt from Building Code going into effect from JUNE 1st 2005. "The exhaust
pipe of a cooling or ventilation facility installed in a building adjacent to the streets of commercial or
residential areas shall be installed higher than 2m to prevent the exhaust air from blowing directly to
passers-by and the current facilities shall be corrected by MAY 31st 2005." So, please install it higher
than 2m or not to blow the hot exhausting air directly to passers-by.
Q What about installing a windscreen during installation not to blow hot air directly to passers-by?
A When the hot air from the front of the outdoor unit is blocked, the product's performance will be
affected and it will fail to operate properly. So, keep it at least 300mm away from its surrounding walls
and give it good ventilation.
