DEATH PENALTY FOR THE CORRUPTORS

Corruption in Indonesia evolved systemicly. For many people the corruption no

longer constitute a violation of law , but merely a habit. The development of corruption
in Indonesia also encourages the eradication of corruption in Indonesia. However, until
now the eradication of corruption in Indonesia has yet to show a bright spot rating.
Indonesia is still one of the countries with the biggest problem in the eradication of
corruption. Corruption and its derivatives, ranging from bribery to collusion, have
become a barrier to the nation's economic, social, political and cultural development.

Other than that, abuse of the authority of government agencies for personal gain
is still a widespread practice among bureaucrats. In fact, since 2002 with the enactment
of Law 30/2002 on the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), it has clarified that
corruption is an extraordinary crime .

Recently there have been several corruption cases exposed in our country,
Indonesia, such as the social assistance corruption case for handling the Covid-19
pandemic for the Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang , and Bekasi (Jabodetabek) areas
which were carried out by the Minister of Social Affairs (Mensos) Juliari P Batubara. In
that case, NOT ONLY Juliari P Batubara, but there were also five suspects. The
determination of the suspect is a follow-up to the hand-arrest operation carried out by
the KPK on Saturday (5/12/2020) in the morning.

Now, it have to do a lot of improvements by the government. The main

improvements in the field of efforts to prosecution and prevention of corruption that
must be performed together. Like changing the sanctions that given to corruptors. So
far, as we know, corruptors have only been sentenced to criminal penalties but with very
satisfying facilities so looks like living in an apartment not in a detention cell or jail.
Then, with things like this will the perpetrators of corruption be deterred? Of course it
will not be deterred, if the sanctions are like that.
The government must act decisively in dealing with this matter. I strongly agree
that the penalty for corruptors is the death penalty. With very heavy and firm sanctions
such as the death penalty, corruptors will be deterred because it is unfair if the death
penalty is only given to prisoners who have tripped over drug cases, whereas we all
know clearly that what is trash of society and the great enemy of society is corruptors.
We can see examples from other countries such as North Korea that impose sanctions in
the form of the death penalty for corruptors and as a result this country has the lowest
ranking of corruption cases.

Nowdays the goverment has to do a lot of improvements by the government .

The main improvements in the field of efforts to prosecution and prevention of
corruption that must be performed in together . Because criminal corruption looks like
illnesses chronic that continue to emerge. Despite the prevention echoed and actions
continue to do . the goverment have to act decisively because corruptors are still to be
big enemy in Indonesia.
