Activity 1-Reflection

1. Reflect on the information about transcultural nursing that was discussed, and indicate
how it will help you to provide nursing care for people from different cultures that differ
from your own.

- Since Diversity in the Nursing field is essential because it provides opportunities to

administer quality care to patients. I would love to learn their language, beliefs,
cultural practices, promotes good relationship and allow them to express any
concerns in behalf of anything they need for me to provide as necessary intervention
or quality of care since communication barrier in somewhat a problem towards any
culture and communication is really the key in making the patient comfortable
towards you while assessing their health status and also the more you understand
each other, it is an easier process for nurses to know what really is the patient’s
concern about their health.

Activity 2

1. Describe the 5 steps in the process for delivery culturally congruent and competent care for
clients from diverse backgrounds.

 Assessment – Cultural self-assessment on patients and condition

 Mutual Goal Setting – set mutual goals in providing total patient care without
breaking any cultural taboo
 Care Planning – Planning should be centered toward the patient with consideration
towards his/her cultural diversity.
 Implementation – Implement provided care while being awareness about the dos
and don’ts of their culture.
 Evaluation of care plan and objective by client and team – Monitor effectiveness of
rendered care and always follow guidelines for implementing culturally competent
nursing care
