As an international corporation Toyota is present all over the world currently


employing over 300 thousand people in 26 countries. With always expanding reach, the
Japanese brand has had many M&As in the past, recently it joined a joint-venture with Mazda
Motors to build a manufacturing plant in Alabama where cutting edge technology will be
applied in the production of both company’s cars.

Strategic M&A, Partnerships, Joint Ventures and Alliances:

In 2016 Toyota Motors bough one of the last combustion engines manufacturer in
Japan, Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd., with the goal to gain more market share in the compact
vehicles sector, an emerging market that has high priority for the company.
In 2018 the company choose to merge three of its informational technology
subsidiaries, Toyota Communications Systems, Co. Ltd., Toyota Digital Cruise, Inc. and
Toyota Caelum Inc., creating a company that covers different fields of expertise.
Looking to expand its market share in India Toyota started a partnership with Suzuki
Motor Corporation in 2016 and signed an agreement in 2019 to create a capital alliance. The
collaboration, a very significant one in the automotive industry, allowed Toyota not only to
acquire almost 5% of Suzuki but also better explore the Indian market thru Maruti Suzuki
brand.

Conclusion:

With a well stablished client base and a brand that calls for respect, Toyota is one of
the most important cars manufacturer in the world. The company has never shown fear of
adapting and innovating, following the trends Toyota released battery moved cars and
continues to see increase in its revenues. The profits projection for the year were recently
hiked by 54% as the Japanese and American markets recover from the COVID crises.
