1. Symptom

When the Fuser Unit turns, a slight clicking noise may come from the bearing of the "Pressure
Roller". This noise may occur also early after the installation.

2. Cause

The causes of this issue are the followings:

a) Pressure is applied to the “Pressure Roller” than to the bearing on both sides, causing the
bearing to gradually be inclined.
b) Due to allowance of the hole of the “Fusing Unit Frame”, the installation claw of the bearing
holding plate will be dislocated when such pressure is applied from the bearing.
c) Consequently, the bearing will be gradually inclined and the “Pressure Roller” be prevented
from rotating smoothly, generating abnormal noise.

3. Workaround

Follow the Adjustment procedure in the following pages so as to make the mounting plate fixed in
the right position if the problem appears.

4. Adjustment Procedures of the Mounting Plate

Caution

• Make sure to perform the following procedures after falling enough in the temperature
of the Fusing Unit in order to prevent from burn.
• Do not damage the harness or get caught between the parts

a) Turn OFF the Main Power Switch

b) Unplug the Power Cord
c) Wait until the Fuser Unit is become cold
d) Remove the Fuser Unit
e) Remove two screws each and remove the Left and Right covers
f) Remove two shoulder screws and one screw and remove the Front cover

g) Loosen two screws on the left side of illustration and locate the positioning plate the fix with
the screws in center of square hole and its screw.
h) Loosen a right screw and also locate the positioning plate in the center of square hole and fix it
with the screw.

i) Reinstall in reverse order.

• To reinstall in reverse order follow all the precaution described in the figure on next
page.

5. Countermeasure

The shape of the fusing unit frame hole has been changed as below so that the bearing holding
plate will be completely fitted to the fusing unit frame.
In case abnormal noise occurs, replace the Fusing Unit with a new type of Fusing Unit

Before modification:
• Current Frame in the Fusing Unit “Not Supplied as Spare”

After modification:
• New Frame in the Fusing Unit “Not Supplied as Spare”
