Accomplishment Report on Radio-Based Instruction (RBI)

Radio-Based Instruction (RBI) and being part of this team taught me many things and help me
discovered more of me and the things I can do and share for the benefits of our education clientele-
our learners.

I can still remember how it all started. Last year when everything has changed- no graduation,
delayed opening of classes, long vacation. I became part of DepEd Hour who wrote and delivers
news and updates about education, its programs and like.

When DedEd introduced modalities of learning, I became part of the Quarter 1 audio recorder. It
was fun, exciting activity for I know in simple way I could reached not only my incoming students but
also the learners who has access to the radio. It was hard at first, but I get used to it.

But when the Quarter 2 class started, the need to lessen the numbers of audio recorders affects me
not to be part of the team. It was fine with me because I could focus more attending the needs of my
students.

But opportunity knocks, live airing comes, my friend approached me to be again part of RBI. I was
hesitant at first because I am not confident talking to the radio stations live. But I managed to
conquer because of the number of learners that I could reached and the number of teachers that
somehow that I can help.

Live broadcast was such a challenge. Challenge on how to be at the radio stations and look for the
place. Challenge on how to consume the allotted time to avoid the air gap. Challenge to run the
program as host and be a discussant sometimes when unexpected problems arise. Challenge to
prepare the script and many more…

During my first live airing experience, the pressure on my part was present. But thanks be to God I
surpassed the challenge and fear. Then I realized how easy and comfortable to be on live than of
the recorded instruction where the editors took more effort and time editing all our stuff.

The journey of being a host begun. Meeting new friends, making adjustment for the script,
discussing the script in the absence of the discussants for personal reasons. Travelling to places I
never been for the sake of live airing.
Really it was tiring but satisfying. Reading comments and appreciations from learners encouraged
us much to do our work more diligently, Through Radip-Based Instruction (RBI) I was able to
connect to my pupils by sharing them the link as if we were just inside the four-corner room. I was
able to reach learners of Daet through Power Radio and Cool Radio. I was able to talk to the
elementary and secondary learners of Paracale through Radyo Natin, Paracale. I was able to
mingle and share the learnings to the students of Vinzons through Radyo Katabang and finally was
able to reach students and parents of Camarines Norte through Radyo Pilipinas.

All the hard works, sacrifices and exciting experiences were well-paid off knowing that what I’ve
done and we’ll continue doing are for the sake and comfort of the learners, and the parents. This is
because I believe that education must really continue no matter what, Education must not stop. A
little share of mine gives impact to the learners to be encouraged to pursue their education because
the Department of Education are doing their job to support and supply the needed information and
fill the gaps even in distance learning.
