Comparing Forward and Backward Data Lineage

Unlike for data propaga on, data lineage results are not symmetrical. Example of a data lineage result
illustra on shows:
Data stores accessed in input named In
One program named P1
Data stores accessed in output named On.

The data elements persisted in the data stores are named En, and the data elements not persisted but used in
the memory during program execu on are named Fn.
Par al result of forward lineage illustra on shows an example of forward data lineage star ng from data
element E2:

In the example the purple lines show the detailed lineage links, which enable digging deeper into the lineage
results. The summary would show E2 connected to E6 as illustrated by the blue line.
Par al result of backward lineage illustra on shows an example of backward data lineage star ng from data
element E6 and returns addi onal links:

The summary shows that E6 is connected to E2 and E3, as illustrated through the blue line.
