1. It keeps a culture and heritage of ancient people alive and active as the dance
reflects the life of our ancestry.
2. They are a uniting force of the Filipino people. It unites people and strengthen
bonds among community words.
3. People have been dancing folk dances and it is worth keeping that legacy.
4. It preserves the Philippine culture to still live on for a long time and to be passed
down to the next generation.

6 CHARACTERESTICS OF FOLK DANCE

1. In general, dancers stand apart.

2. Most of the dancers are done by pair or couples.
3. Hand movements play an important part.
4. Most dances are in long formation.
5. Most dances begin and end with “saludo”.
6. Dance from low land have more foreign elements than those in upland.
