• Folk: This originates from the Middle Engli

"folke," meaning "people" or "common people."

• Dance: This stems from the Old French word

"danser,"
which itself comes from the Frankish word "dansôn
,"
meaning "to move rhythmically."
Therefore, the word "folk dance" literally translates
to
"dance of the people" or "dance of the common peo
ple."
This aptly reflects its origins and purpose as dances
that
were developed and passed down through generatio
ns
within specific communities and cultures, often as
expressions of their traditions, stories, and celebrati
ons.
Folk dance refers to traditional dances that have b

people who perform them. In the Philippines, folk

she gracefully maneuvers through moving bamboo poles, symbolizing her
escape from a falling tree.
Maglalatik: Hailing from the Tagalog region, Maglalatik is a mock war dance
featuring coconut shell halves worn on the body as percussion instruments,
producing a rhythmic and energetic performance..
