Tonight’s Dream Tomorrow’s Memories

By Jerameel Delos Reyes

“Nervous? Excited? Do I feel right? I have been waiting for this moment for a long
time.” These words seem to be in the mind of every junior and senior student when the JS
promenade was heard. It is an event every student is looking forward to. It is an event
wherein glamour and elegance become palpable. But do you really know the essence of
this event?

February 13, 2011, St. Clement Academy held its very first Junior Senior Promenade.
Although the school was too busy that time, the school managed to make things happen.
It was a glamorous night, and you can see beautiful faces around. From students up to
teachers, everyone looks gorgeous with their attire. The students were very excited as as
they walked on stage one by one as part of the ceremony. The program started with an
inspiring speech from Mr. Rommel Cruz who reiterated the true essence of the event. The
event is about turning over of the responsibilities of the senior students to the junior
students. He also said that JS prom is not about how beautiful your dress is; it is about
how you understand the meaning of it. After that, it was followed by one of the most
awaited part of the ceremony which was the selection of candidates for Mr. and Ms.
Senior and Junior. They selected the top 10 junior ladies and gentlemen and top 5 senior
ladies and gentlemen. After trimming down the candidates, they selected top four and top
three for junior and senior candidates respectively. The remaining candidates answered
the judges’ questions. It’s hard for the judges to decide who would win because of the
different aspects that each candidate possesses. In the end, Rayven Jethro dela Cruz and
Jefferlyn Joy dela Cruz were the chosen as Mr. and Ms. Junior while Ephraim Yuson and
Czarina Christelle Alyannah Celis were the chosen Mr. and Ms. Senior. The remaining
four candidates battled it out for the prom prince and princess. In the end, Ephraim and
Czarina took the spot for the prom prince and princess.

The night grew deeper, and the true meaning of the ceremony happened and that was
the turning over of the responsibilities. Czarina Christelle Alyannah S. Celis turned over
the torch of learning to Erin Elizabeth Reyes while EphraimYuson turned over the key of
responsibility to John Carlo Bondoc. Then, one of the most special parts of the ceremony
took place-the cotillion which was presented by the chosen fourth year and third year
students. After the cotillion, everyone conquered the dance floor to dance freely with
anyone they liked. It looked like time stopped then as they dance gracefully with their
crushes and loved ones. It may seem to be tiring but that wasn’t felt by the students. Time
flies so fast. The princesses and princes had to go home. It was a beautiful night indeed.
Memories will be kept forever. A dream that was fulfilled will be unforgettable for
everyone.
