REMOVAL PREPARATION OPERATION 5 Position the vehicle on a two-post liftvehicle: Towing and lifting (02A, Lifting equipment). O Set the wheels straight ahead. & Remove: im the front wheelsWheel: Removal - Refittina , wm the engine undertray, the interior protectors of the front wings. 2. REMOVAL OPERATION & Remove the engine tie-bar stiffenerenaine-aearbox unit support assembly: Exploded view Remove the engine tie-bar stiffenerLower enaine tie-bar: Removal - Refitting . Fit a component jeck(i0) to support the rear of the front axle assembly sub-frame. G Replace the two front bolts on the front axle assembly sub-frame with two rods on the toolThreaded rods for carrying out subframe operations.(rav. 1747 ) (11) to slightly lower the front of the front axle assembly sub-frame. Remove the front axle subframe tie-rod upper bolts(12) . & Remove the front axle subframe rear bolts. G Lower the front axle subframe with the component jack. Remove: 1m the heat shield bolts on the steering box, 1 the steering box heat shield. Fit a hose clamp on the low pressure pipe to restrict the flow of power-assisted steering fluid. CAUTION, Prepare for the flow of fluid, and protect the surrounding components. O Remove m the high pressure pipe union on the steering box, '@ the low pressure pipe union on the steering box. & Remove the steering box bolts. & Remove the steering box to the left. aunt) 4. Torque tighten the steering box bolts(see 36A, steering assembly , Steering assembly: Exploded view) Torque tightenPower-assisted steering assembly: Exploded view : the high pressure pipe union on the steering box, the low pressure pipe union on the steering box. a Remove the hose clamp on the low pressure pipe. a Refit 7 . the steering box heat shield, the heat shield bolts on the steering box. a Position the front axle sub-frame. a Refit the two rear bolts on the front axle assembly subframe a Replace the two rods of the toolThreaded rods for carrying out subframe operations.(tav. 1747 ) with the two new front bolts of the front axle sub-frame Torque tighten the front axle subframe boltsFront axle assembly: Exploded view . Refit the engine tie-bar reinforcementEngine-gearbox unit support assembly: Exploded view . 3. FINAL OPERATION a Refit: . the universal joint, . a new bolt and a new nut on the universal joint, . the track rod ends, . the interior protectors of the front wings. a Refit the front axle subframe tie-rod upper bolts, o Torque tighten(see 36A, Stesring assembly , Steering assembly: Exploded view) : . the track rod end nuts(see 36A, Steering assembly , Steering assembly: Exploded view) , . the universal joint bolt(see 36A, Steering assembly .
