his father dealt kindly with me.” So David sent messengers to console him
concerning his father. And David's servants came to the land of the
Ammonites to Hanun to console him. But the princes of the Ammonites said
to Hanun, “Do you think, because David has sent comforters to you, that he is
honoring your father? Have not his servants come to you to search and to
overthrow and to spy out the land?” So Hanun took David's servants and
shaved them and cut off their garments in the middle, at their hips, and sent
them away; and they departed. When David was told concerning the men, he

Seeing the crowds, he went up on the mountain, and when he sat down, his
disciples came to him. And he opened his mouth and taught them, saying:
“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. “Blessed
are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. “Blessed are the meek, for
they shall inherit the earth. ...
Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in
the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law
of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree
planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does
not wither. In all that he does, he prospers. The wicked are not so, but are like
chaff that the wind drives away. Therefore the wicked will not stand in the
judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous; ...
When man began to multiply on the face of the land and daughters were born

of God came in to the daughters of man and they bore children to them.

every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. ...
In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was
without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the
Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. And God said, “Let
there be light,” and there was light. And God saw that the light was good. And
God separated the light from the darkness. God called the light Day, and the
