Tell me what laws are

Laws are a body of rules by a controlling authority might it be a sovereign nation’s legislative body or
any law-making entity. It is binding, enforced, and contains sanctions or legal consequences if violated.

2. How a bill becomes a law

A bill will be proposed by a member of the legislation, a representative in the Congress, or many
members or co-authors. It will be examined through a process called reading. It will be then passed to
the appropriate committee. It will be read again for a second and third reading. There will be a vote and
if the bill passes, it will be transmitted to the Senate. The Senate will examine the bill again in a process
called reading. The bill we undergo a voting process and if it passes, it will be examined in a bicameral
conference by members of both the Congress and the Senate. The bill will be signed by the Senate
President and the Speaker of the House. It will be transmitted to the President. The President will either
approve the bill or veto the bill. Veto means to override the passing of the bill.

POLITICAL & INTERNATIONAL LAW – sa foreign affairs, rule of politics

LABOR LAW – sa mga manggagawa

CIVIL LAW – sa mga property at honor ng tao, like libel.

TAXATION LAW – sa pagbabayad ng tax

MERCANTILE/ COMMERCIAL LAW – batas sa mga negosyo

CRIMINAL LAW – batas sa mga krimen like homicide, drugs

LEGAL ETHICS & PRACTICAL EXERCISES – tungkol sa mga lawyers, paano sila dapat umasta

REMEDIAL LAW – para sa mga nakukulong na wala naming kasalanan

5. Importance of laws in tourism & hospitality industry

It is important so that:

1. Business establishment have a guideline on what to follow to ensure BEST STANDARDS.


2. Customers will know their rights and what to expect when dealing with establishments.
3. Business owners and managers can protect themselves from illegal practices that are unsafe.
4. There is an even playing field between competitors because if there are now laws, the
competitors will do malpractices just to earn revenue.
