1.What are the ultimate goals of Community Development? Elaborate each.


 

The goal of community development is to assist com- munities in obtaining, maintaining


and/or improving these attributes of community health.
Enhance of people’s potentials and capabilities
 It is one of goals in Community Development, because through this we enhance
what potentials we have and we learn a lot. It is a opportunity to learn , to
develop our skills and inspire others.
Participation of the people through collective actions in the process of change and
transformation
 We know that participation is must. In Community Development must need an
participation of everyone to make our community better and have peace. If we
need an improvement and transformation we make away to have an participation
each of us its all for our community make better.
Promotion of the peoples well- being and welfare
 If we participated in our Community, we have an chance claim an promotion
through what we did well.

2. What are the fields of Community Development? Elaborate each.

There are some Fields of Community Development ;

Community Education (CE)

 It is concerned with the enhancement of the people’s potentials and capability.


We know that education it is away to make ourlife changes and to have an
improvement, in this fields its is important in community. For having a lot of
learning it can be help in our community to make a better place and we have an
chances to development our skills and our future also.
Community Organizing (CO)

 It is the core method in community development. Without it, one cannot conceive
or engage in developing communities. Community Organizing (CO) as a method
which refers to aimed at the grouping of people to struggle for their common
needs and inspiration in a given locality. It is important in fields of Community
Development to make the process easy.
 And also it is an processes involve the following activities, which may overlap
and be repeated at a new level during the process of organizing.
 It’s have an three 3 areas of CO namely; area-based organizing, sectoral-based
organizing, and networks.
 Community Organizing, which include its ideological background and value
orientations, assumptions and propositions, goals, approaches, and principles.
Towards the end, the paper discusses the steps involved in community
organizing and forwards a conceptual framework of community organizing
focused on people empowerment and based on the concept of people centered
participatory development.

Community Resource and Disaster Risk Management (CRDRM)

 This fields we know some of sources of our community or what their issue or
problems exist.
 Community resources such as land, urban services, credits and capital, forest,
coastal and other natural resources of the community have always been the
source of issues of community development, for both area based and sector
organizing.
 Both CRM and CBDRM entail the involvement of the people in the advocacy for
policies and programs for resources and disaster risk management.

3. How did Community Development come into being in international arena?

 Since 1966 the leading international journal in its field, covering a wide range of
topics, reviewing significant developments and providing a forum for cutting-edge
debates about theory and practice. It adopts a broad definition of community
development to include policy, planning and action as they impact on the life of
communities. We particularly seek to publish critically focused articles which
challenge received wisdom, report and discuss innovative practices, and relate
issues of community development to questions of social justice, diversity and
environmental sustainability.
 Community development is often thought of as an essentially local approach to
problem-solving. With the globalization of the economy, and the emergence of
transnational organizations concerned with social and/or economic issues,
community development needs to rethink its approach to incorporate a global
dimension.

4. How was Community Development conceptualized in the Philippines?

 Concept of community development has come from about two hundreds


years. The democratic political revolution of France and Britain as well as the
Second World War played a vital role in the existing of community development.
The above three events were the major reasons for the emergence of community
development.
 The concept of community development in India was initiated well before
Independence. Even during the struggle for Independence, under the leadership
of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation, considerable attention was given
to rural upliftment and reconstruction.

 Keystone poverty reduction initiative of the Government of the Philippines is the


Kapit-bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive Delivery of Social Services
(KALAHI-CIDSS, or KC). KC is a CDD program implemented by the Department
of Social Welfare and Development of the Philippines (DSWD). KC targets poor
communities in the country’s 48 poorest provinces (out of 81).
5. How did Community Development start as an academic discipline?

 University professor and sociology, Dr. Gelia T. Castillo noted that “ applied fields
of the study such a community development, social work, social development
and community organization are relatively young and their identities need
continuing validation”(Castillo, 1994: 22).
 With the CD programs of community development, there is need for reviewing
community development as an academic discipline, particularly in training of
community development professionals and in generating and promotion new
knowledge through researches and publications.
 Academic Discipline is also community development is a multi- disciplinary and
applied social science. It concerned with both the analysis and applications og
social science concepts in planning intervention in the community.
